"Shatner" and "Best Actor" usually don't go together even though he's good in that movie.

A Star Trek movie getting a Best Actor nod? That’ll be the day!

Is the OP smoking crack?!? All kidding aside, I can vividly remember Siskel & Ebert's review of this when it came out and Gene saying with all seriousness that if this would have been a made-for-TV movie, Shatner would have been nominated for an Emmy.

Score - I'd be cool with James Horner having got a nomination
Shatner - no, his overacting is cringe-inducing at times and 1982 was an especially great year for the category.

A Star Trek movie getting a Best Actor nod? That’ll be the day! Well if Alec Guinness can get an Oscar nomination for Star Wars....... But of course Shatner and Guinness are on opposite sides of the acting spectrum for most people.

His OTT style works perfectly in this movie.

"KHAAAAAAAAAAAAAN!" is the object of parody for a reason.
Ricky Monty Baumy is a little more agreeable in Supporting.

Whenever someone mentions William Shatner in Wrath of Kahn I can't help but think of Family Guy making fun of his performance during that scene. It is some of the most ridiculous facial acting I have ever seen.
