Obviously, the Yankees are the most popular team outside of New York. But what I want to is which team is more popular in the actual city of New York: the New York Yankees or the New York Mets? Because I've heard, it's about split 50/50.

Unless the Yanks are struggling and the Mets are contenders with a buzz, the Yanks own NY. Mets bandwagon days are behind them, with all their pitchers getting injuries or struggling, and Aaron Judge is sealing the deal for NY right now.
