Я могу воспользоваться комнатой отдыха? = Can I use the lounge?
Может в туалет? = "Maybe to the toilet?" is what I get when I translate "Can to toilet?"
"Restroom" is a quaint American (and Canadian I guess) euphemism for toilet.
можно в туалет? en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D0%BC%D0%BE%D0%B6%D0%BD%D0%BEThere are no articles like "the" or "a(n)" in Russian so "the" is added by the translator. My man has trouble with whether and when to use "the" and "a(n)." Canadians usually say "washroom" but due to American influence some say "restroom" as well ![](https://s26.postimg.cc/480s321zt/eyes.gif) . I think "washroom" is a more accurate euphemism considering there are sinks to wash hands in but there's not really a place to rest.

Brings to mind the scene from "Borat" when Borat is getting etiquette lessons from the instructor. This was right before the dinner party.
What you say if I have to use the "s***hole"?
He actually did use that phrase. What happened after he was done was HILARIOUS!

I think "washroom" is a more accurate euphemism considering there are sinks to wash hands in but there's not really a place to rest. I would prefer to call it a toilet. I like to get to the gist of things without a bunch of excess editorializing. I do like the British term "loo" though. It needs its own name. In my family as a kid we called it the "bathroom". That makes sense because in American homes there's always a shower or bath there as well.
I can't stand fools, usually males, who use the toilet to "rest". A lot of men do. They'll read the paper in there. I had one boyfriend who would fall asleep on the toilet and I practically had to break the door down.
Sometimes I just want to f**k it all and call it a tearoom. I also believe a real bathroom should have a bidet and a urinal. Urinals save on water.
I'm perfectly used to "toilet" because in French, which I learned for several years and then forgot most of it, it's "Est-ce que je peux aller aux toilettes?" which means "Is it that I can go to the toilets?" I'd say that real Canadians have at least some understanding of French because where I grew up it was mandatory from grades 5-8. There are some foreigners in my class who maybe learned American English or something.
