A movie with at least 1,000 votes on IMDB.
"Sunday With Cybele" is one I just saw on IMDB (7.9/10), but only a 44% on RT, which comprises of about 25 25-year olds.. Too much influence for such a small sample size. I think IMDB is the most accurate.
"Miracle in Milan" has a 7.7/10 w/ over 6,000 votes, but its never mentioned even in movie circles.
"Il Generale Della Rovere" - 7.8/10
For perspective, "The Godfather" has 1.5 million votes, and a rating of 9.2/10

People talk bad about Crash, but it has a score of 7.7/10.
Several movies with 100% approval ratings on Rotten Tomatoes have relatively high scores on IMDb such as Touchez pas au grisbi, Jalsaghar, Jazz on a Summer's Day, and A Man Escaped.

this. A lot of people seem to hate this movie but the rating does not show that.

this. A lot of people seem to hate this movie but the rating does not show that. It was fine, just not better than the things it was running against at the Oscars which is what triggers the hate. Same thing with Green Book.

It was a sad movie about a veteran with apparent shellshock who befriends a young girl. At least that's what I remember. I've never seen "Miracle in Milan". I would like to see it, though. I bet I'd love it. The critics like to focus on "Bicycle Thief" for De Sica. I'm sure they have their reasons. I thought "Shoeshine" was better, though. And the last three minutes of "Umberto D" are, for me, the most heartwrenching of them all. But you never hear about that movie.

I was always worried about the shell-shock leading to possible molestation.
I recommend "Miracle in Milan", but De Sica has even better movies, like "Two Women", "Sunflower" (I think easily the best love movie), and I agree Umberto D and Shoeshine (Welles' called this the favorite movie a few times) are better than Bicycle Thieves, which is a great movie, but this seems to use up all of De Sica's works. My favorite director, and a hell of an actor. Amazon has a documentary on him - Vittorio D
