![](http://www.impawards.com/1998/posters/blade_ver2.jpg) if you haven't seen it in a while or never seen it at all you might assume it sucks or doesn't hold up. I mean, it came out in the dark ages of superhero movies. One year after Batman & Robin and Steel. I mean a late 90s action vampire movie alone might be a turn off to people lol. But I watched it a while back after a long time, and it is surprisingly awesome! yes there is some awful CGI in the climax that looks like something from a Sci Fi Channel or Asylum movie, but the action is really well directed, it looks and sounds great. Snipes is awesome and sick. He makes this character his own. Stephen Dorff also makes for a fun bad guy. There also some parts that definitely might remind you of The Matrix due to the trench coats, sunglasses, superhuman kung fu, slow motion. Yet it actually predates the Matrix by a year. It was just a style at the time. Honestly I'd take this movie over most recent Marvel movies. And the opening scene is probably one of the best ever

I'm surprised they haven't rebooted it yet

I'd rather rewatch it than recent Marvel movies.

I'm surprised they haven't rebooted it yet That's the plan. Apparently Marvel's been talking to Mahershala Ali for the part.

I hadn't seen it in a long time and just re-watched it the other day.
It is as good as I remember. The only thing holding it back is that the action scenes aren't handled very well.
Everything else about the movie is well done though and some of it is very well done. The entire cast is very good and each of them add something unique to their characters.
They are all given memorable dialogue and some great one-liners throughout.
The movie has fantastic atmosphere and is actually quite creepy at parts.
The story is simple, but well written. That is until the ending anyway, when the prophesy doesn't actually come true in the way Frost says it will.

I always liked Blade and think most people did, it has a 7.1 on imdb. I've seen it 2 or 3 times but not in a long time, might try to get my kid to watch it and see what she thinks.

Karen's co-worker who gets turned into a ghoul was the priest in John Carpenter's Vampires

I figured you did but said it anyway. I have always found it funny that this not very known actor happened to play in 2 vampire movies in the same year. I am sure it is more than just coincidence.

Similar plots too--getting super vampire powers by sacrificing a vampire hunter. I hated that aspect to Vampires. I think the film should have just focused on them hunting vampires without the "first vampire" sub plot. They didn't show enough of the master vampires either.

That similar plot point doesn't bother me all that much, but I do wish the movie had a more unique plot. There is a lot I like about Vampires and most of that has to do with the style of the movie and James Woods. Let's be honest, there isn't much story here.

I have never cared much for Blade 2, though after re-watching it the other day I like it more now than I ever did before. I still think the writing is lacking and the overall story isn't very interesting until the last act. The action however is far superior to the action in the first film and it is a very good looking movie as per usual when it comes to Guillermo Del Toro.

I've always liked it. It's the first good Marvel movie and a great vampire action flick to boot. The villain reminds me a little of Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The CGI is very dated, but it's a 90s film so that's to be expected.

The second one is better though.
My main issue with the Blade is really some of that awful CGI. Otherwise good film.
I really hope the Blade reboot keeps things rated R.

First DVD I ever bought. Still stands up well.
Shame they made him American, but then again I can't imagine Snipes doing a Brit accent.

I used to prefer Blade II, but I haven't seen these films for quite a while.
Coincidentally Blade was just taken off the index in my country, it was only available in an edited version for home cinema.

Great film, I remember seeing it at the theater upon release. Kris Kristofferson is good in this one. I thought Dorff was going to be big time after this but he never really hit his stride. I like part 2 as well.
