Does anyone suppose the movie would’ve received even marginally better reviews and word of mouth if that were the case?

I never bothered to watch it. Is it really better than the theatrical version or is it just polishing a turd?

I never bothered to watch it. Is it really better than the theatrical version or is it just polishing a turd? Depends how you look at it. If you absolutely despise the theatrical cut, there’s a strong chance you won’t like the UE. It’s more cohesive than the theatrical version, and Superman has more focus, but it’s not a drastically different film. Still, if you’re going to watch the movie, it might as well be the UE. You’re not really getting the full story with the theatrical version.

I never bothered to watch it. Is it really better than the theatrical version or is it just polishing a turd? It fills in some plot holes from the Theatrical version, but is mostly just a longer version of an unpleasant experience. As thisguy almost implied, the only people who really like it already liked BvS but now feel more dignity in it because Scoot McNairy's wheelchair was leaded and the machined gunned corpses Superman gets framed for were incinerated. Unfortunately, a bit less stupidity doesn't make a masterpiece and I cringe whenever a Snyder fanboy tries to martyr the Ultimate Cut.

In theory, it probably would have faired a bit better with critics but not by much.
