When I was a kid the ants used to invade the kitchen and always went for any grains of sugar left uncleared. They always found the odd few grains on the draining board.

I was amazed at how the smallest amount of food could draw so many! I'm excited to get the pest control. Bet it takes me time to get back in the swing of things. Oh! and stagg!! to leave anything out on the counter will be a new experience. I'm excited!

I have the little sugar/grease ants who come for a visit once in a while. Although I've tried a number of "environmentally-friendly/organic" solutions like vinegar or lemon juice, none of them work very well.
What does work are the Terro ant bait/traps - the ones with a clear gel solution about 1"X4".
I also keep rice, flour, sugar, etc. in tightly sealed containers/Ziplock bags.

I have been using the same bottle of Terro for years. I put a couple of drops on pieces of cardboard and they take it home with them and feed the ant-lettes . One treatment in the spring seems to be enough to clean them out for the rest of the season.
