Okay this weird. I just came across a thread on the food board and was entering a random post about buffalos. On the tv in the background is a nature show on PBS. As I began typing it featured bears. But by the time I finished typing... BUFFALOS came on the screen! Not surprising to see these creatures on a nature show, but just as I was typing that?! Weird and wacky stuff. This actually happens all the time. The other week I was typing the word “mountains” in an email and someone on tv used the word as I typed it! And a few months ago I was typing the word “goofball” and a coworker in the background in a completely separate conversation said the word “goofy” at the same time! Anyone else ever experience this phenomenon? It’s really freaky when it happens.

dirtypillows I know you like this sort of thing. We have discussed it before. Yes, I do like this synchronicity. Whenever it happens, it makes me feel like I am aligned with the universe. What you mentioned about typing a word and then hearing it being spoken on tv has been happening a LOT lately. Like four or five times a day. It's hard to know what to think. I suppose one has to take a leap of faith and decide what they will make of it. Do you like the feeling whenever it happens to you? I know I do.

The other part is a little freaked out by it. When I was younger I liked things that challenged my beliefs and view of the world/reality. Now I just like having solid answers to things. I do still believe it’s all just coincidence though. But the frequency of it certainly makes me think sometimes.

Speaking of synchronicity, there is a thread on Reddit discussing this very topic. Well, actually the thread is discussing evidence that we live in a simulated universe created in a lab, and asking what is the evidence? Posters brought up the improbability of coincidence but how it occurs much more commonly than is mathematically possible.
Here's my best example and I've posted it before if it seems redundant. I know a couple, Reynold and Linda, who moved into a new house. They only discovered afterwards that the nest two side streets over were Reynold Avenue and Linda Street. Now sorry, that is just too precise to be coincidence. It's as if it had all been planned beforehand just for them before they even married. Could it be the simulators got lazy with their use of names?
That's wild! Are Reynold and Linda two people who seem in tune?

dirtypillows I know you like this sort of thing. We have discussed it before. So, I was looking for a list of "un-PC" novels and while I was waiting for the page to load, I was thinking that Bret Easton Ellis' Less Than Zero was not very PC. Then I check out the books on the list and bam, no.2 on the list - White, by BEE. I just love that! theweek.com/articles/848295/herman-kochs-book-recommendations

I have been watching through Hitchcock movies for the first time and just as soon as I rent Rear Window I injure my knee. So tonight I will be sitting around with an injured leg while watching a movie about a guy with an injured leg!

I've had similar things happen to me many times. It is weird.

Musical ones can be funny. When I was listening to this record a driver outside did a double honk on his horn just as Leo Sayer sang his first BABY!

I have been watching through Hitchcock movies for the first time and just as soon as I rent Rear Window I injure my knee. So tonight I will be sitting around with an injured leg while watching a movie about a guy with an injured leg! Okay, I just received my daily dosage of synchronicity. This morning I had replied on the "do you want to get married" thread, saying such and such and incorporating an old phrase "shuffle off this veil of tears" (which I first heard on an old episode of "Columbo")... so just to be sure that I was using the phrase correctly, I googled it and found that I was using its meaning properly, but that, in this case, it is spelled V-A-L-E. So, I go back and correct the spelling. An hour or so later, I go home for lunch and decide I'm going to watch the last 25 minutes of "Now, Voyager", beginning with the scene where Bette Davis and the young girl are making a call from the phone booth at the ice cream parlor. The little girl, Tina, is telling her father all about her new friend, saying her name is "Miss Charlotte Vale", saying "no, not that kind of veil, it's spelled V-A-L-E, daddy!" And with all the sentiment and the Max Steiner score plus being predisposed to weeping, I find my eyes welling up, and suddenly I am watching this movie through a "veil of tears"... Sweet!

I just got back from an OP/Thrift shop and got a polo shirt with tiny Bison/Buffalo patterned all over it. That's a nice one!

if I were you, I think I'd have a hard time not believing in synchronicity As in the words of E.M. Forster..."Only connect." Are you a fan of Forster? 'A Room with a View' and 'Where Angels Fear to Tread' are 2 of my favourites of his.

My cat came up to me and meowed. I said “What do you need?”. Immediately as I said this the commercial on tv said “We have everything you need”.

I was listening to classical music on FM radio, and I accidentally bumped my nightstand where the radio was sitting, and at that exact moment, the CD at the radio station started skipping. I thought that was pretty funny. Meaningless, but funny.
