If left at room temperature?
If so, after how long?
I've had a gallon of it, and it has to be a year old or more. I know it's cheap enough to replace, and I will. I was just looking to add some in a salad tonight and it was all I have in the house....(until tomorrow)

White vinegar does not need to be refrigerated, and as long as you keep it sealed, it will be fine for years.

The "raw" apple cider vinegar with "mother" in it (is that what it's called?) I keep in the fridge (that stuff goes bad though, right?) I use the two for very different purposes. I use the white vinegar mostly for cleaning, and to mix with certain foods when I don't want the apple cider taste (like tonight when I needed something clean and neutral for the dressing for the type of salad I was making). I bought a gallon because I use it for cleaning too - but since COVID I've been using bleach, not white vinegar. I didn't know if a whole year of it sitting in my cupboard unused would make it go sour or something.

It doesn't need to be refrigerated either, but keep it sealed and in a dark, Coolidge place.

It shouldn't go bad. We have a little dispenser for the white vinegar on the shelf on top of the stove. I've used it multiple times without refilling it until necessary, and haven't given it a second thought.
I have an amusing story about malt vinegar, though.
We moved to our current house in 1979. My father had a bottle of malt vinegar. Honestly, I think it was one of the last things surviving from our old house to the new house.
I'm thinking this was in the early 90s that the contents were just about out. So, it had been used for 10+ years.
In the end, father had to shell out cash for another bottle.

Okay, so I should have used the vinegar. I still have it down in the kitchen but was afraid of using it, just in case.
And yes, Pinky, it's Bragg that I have, the ACV that I'm thinking of. Isn't that what that stuff is called inside? "Mother?" That's the best when making something calling for ACV, by far.

I use more of it in the Summer than Winter, so I buy the very small bottles in the Fall. Easy enough to replace. I love the stuff!
