Going into character actors this time. Uncle Joe and Sheriff Micah. The pair that no Western can be without. It isn't a western with the old judge Edgar Buchanan or the wily sheriff Paul Fix.
Buchanan always seemed old, but Fix began as an "angry young man" actor who would have been at home in the sixties. Fix had a better choice of roles.
So this one is Edgar Buchanan. So many films, some had to be left out. As usual, I try to include early ones, late ones, ones that are "major" even if he had a small role, and a good cross section.

A lot tie for first, though I expect SHANE and RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY to dominate with more votes, but I may be surprised.

I love him in Ride The High Country as the corrupt judge who presides over the wedding and whose drunken speech to the bride and groom comes close to actually being meaningful. A wonderful performance.

Well, this board is a pain in the ass to look at.

Looks like RIDE THE HIGH COUNTRY, noted by the sane, sober, serious critics as Peckinpah's master piece, could be the deserving winner.
