I've never seen the colorized version. Is there any case to be made for it? Miracle On 34th Street is the only film I prefer colorized.

Which colorized version? The one that was made in 2007 and released on DVD, isn't too bad. I can watch either, almost equally, but I do prefer the B&W version. since that is how the Director made the film, and how audiences originally saw it.

In addition to the “of course black and white, that’s the way it was made!” argument, with which I completely agree, I also have to say the spooky alternate-world sequence, especially the scene in the graveyard, works far better in B&W.

Back when the color on TVs could be turned off ... I turned all colorized films back to their normal natural intended B&W ....now if all that is available is colorized .. I skip the movie !

The only colorization I like, by the way, is the Laurel and Hardy Babes in Toyland (1934)—because (1) that’s how I first saw it, (2) all the sets were in bright colors, and (3) Stan reportedly (i.e., according to his daughter) wanted it in color. But that’s it.

With MIRACLE (I believe it was the first to be colorized) -- they concentrated so much on Gwenn's fiery Santa outfit that poor Maureen O'Hara was practically washed out. And when you make the Queen of Technicolor look washed out -- you know the procedure needs work.

The only colorized movie I can watch is Red River - and it turns up here about once a year.
About 30 years ago I tried both The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca but couldn't stomach them in colour. Both are in their normal b/w when shown now.

I saw colorized Harryhausen films but I think the skin hues are often too uniform.
