I appreciate the operatic tone that both share. That being said, I have more opportunities to revisit Bram Stoker's Dracula than Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein really isn’t a good film. It’s unintentionally silly and melodramatic. I’ll have to give this one to Bram Stoker’s Dracula.

Frankenstein but it's not an enthusiastic vote. I don't think either is good--Dracula is more unintentionally humorous. Frankenstein had some things I liked. Oldman was a bad Dracula but very amusing. DeNiro was a bad monster but not amusing.

I thought both films were bad and terribly miscast and I'm not just talking about Keanu Reeves in Dracula either. Robert De Niro was a terrible choice for the monster, he's a good actor, but wrong for that role. A lot of the others felt wrong in their roles, too. Even good actors like Anthony Hopkins.
I guess Dracula mainly because the effects are good and I can always get some humor out of Keanu Reeves' performance and awful accent.

i prefer my balls in a vice. Not your cup of tea? Dracula feels tonally as if Coppola wasn't sure what kind of movie he was making with misguided casting, and Frankenstein was way too far up its floppy ass.

Keanu Reeves should have played Dracula. Many laughs could have been had.

Dracula feels tonally as if Coppola wasn't sure what kind of movie he was making with misguided casting, and Frankenstein was way too far up its floppy ass. I have a bit of a soft spot for Frankenstein (1994). Both movies seem like what would happen if you gave Terence Fisher a $70 million budget.
