During a recent interview on the BAFTAs red carpet (via Star Wars Holocron), Ridley was asked if she misses being Rey and if she will ever come back to Star Wars. Ridley paused before replying, "I'll always be Rey." She then laughed and accurately predicted how this comment may cause a stir amongst Star Wars fans, joking, “Soundbite!"

This was what he said recently in an Empire interview:
"....I’ve stayed close to Kathleen [Kennedy] and we get together often and talk about it. It’s just at this point a matter of schedule and when it can happen. It would break my heart if I were finished, if I couldn’t get back in that sandbox at some point."

It’s probably the TLJ’s critical scores which inflate him. But they are all a farce. |

And if I had an idea that I was excited about, that worked better as a show than a movie, I'd do it that way. At the moment, we're in between making the next Benoit Blanc movie and thinking about Poker Face. I keep getting together with [Lucasfilm president] Kathy [Kennedy] and having conversations. Who knows? Making The Last Jedi was the best experience in my life, so I should be so lucky."

And if I had an idea that I was excited about, that worked better as a show than a movie, I'd do it that way. At the moment, we're in between making the next Benoit Blanc movie and thinking about Poker Face. I keep getting together with [Lucasfilm president] Kathy [Kennedy] and having conversations. Who knows? Making The Last Jedi was the best experience in my life, so I should be so lucky."
In my humble opinion this just comes off as PR talk. They’ve been talking about Johnson’s trilogy since before The Rise of Skywalker was released. Sure he’s not going to move The Knives Out sequels for anything. But he’s making a TV series (Poker Face) and who knows what else he’s entertaining. Bottom line if making a Star Wars movie was “the best experience of your life” you make room for it on your schedule. Particularly if you’ve been talking about it for almost 5 years now. I think this boils down to Disney LucasFilm is either too scared to make a Star Wars movie, too indecisive about what they want to do or both. |
