From what I've heard, the story line for Wanda-Vision will at least partly follow a story in Avengers comics that culminates with Wanda's reality-warping powers altering all of reality. Now, we've heard that the X-Men and Fantastic Four are coming to the MCU. We've also heard that Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and others may be appearing in a new MCU Spider-Man movie. What if this is a result of Wanda altering reality? The story could leave it open-ended how the universe has changed after Wanda's reality-changing episode. Then any actor who played any Marvel character outside the MCU could show up in future MCU movies. Whaddaya think?

I had this idea, recently, that instead of her saying "No more mutants" she says "Miracles." A callback to when Strucker said it was the "age of miracles." Have mutants be more of a racial slur. Doing this changes reality to having mutants there the whole time. Can even redo scenes in previous movies as if those characters were there.

I don’t think any of these Dizney Plus shows will effect the canon that much. It would alienate larger theater going audiences. Once they say “You need to subscribe to our streeeeeaaaaming service to understand the movies” they will lose casual fans, and even some of the more hardcore fans like me that don’t want or care about the shows.

But even if she is, it won’t require audiences to have seen a pay per view tv show first. That would be such a bad marketing strategy. Of course, the show will have character development, but it’s events will not be required viewing. The tv shows will always be extraneous, never essential.

How is that different from seeing the previous movies? You have to see Age of Ultron to understand her character in Civil War. Same with what is going on with her in Infinity War after both Ultron and CW. You have to "pay per view" those movies to see the next.

If I got Disney+ and only watched a MCU movie a month, that would be like going to the movies once a month. It's the same.

That's 4 episodes of a 30 minute show. Disney+ is $8 a month. If I watch 8 episodes of WandaVision before Dr Strange 2 (don't know the ep count, going by Mando) that's the same as watching Iron Man and Captain America First Avenger before watching Avengers.

It’s like expecting general audiences to watch Agents of Shield before seeing the movies.

Because millions of people watch the movies. Do you really think that many people are going to invest time and money in every one of the tv shows too? It’s like expecting general audiences to watch Agents of Shield before seeing the movies. The difference is that there were 23 1 hour episodes of Agents spread over months. Using the normal tv show convention of a season. With one off episodes not completely serialized. Where as the Disney+ shows are 6 episodes at 1 hour each. Designed to be split using individual episode story telling, but to fit together in one 6 hour narrative. More of a miniseries/movie split into episodic chunks. How long Marvel movies (superhero movies in general) have gotten you are looking at a little over 2 movies length per series. And they will release those series in between movies. Also with the millions of people watch the movies, 93 million tickets were sold for Endgame. How many were repeat customers? Disney+ has 74 million subscribers. That's 74 million subscribers that include whole families. So 1 subscription could be just 1 person (like me) or a whole family (4 people like my brother's family). There will be less people who watch the tv shows yes, but the market was shifting to streaming before Covid. Covid accelerated it. I think there will be a time shortly where most get there movies/long form visual story telling from streaming and only go to Movies for special event movies. This will push more people to the event movies. It's the same concept that made the team up Avenger Films must watches for people. They had the time to learn and care about the characters. This doubles down on that concept. I'm not saying that they won't have lines/reasons in the movies to help explain happenings in the tv shows. They will that way someone who hasn't seen one can still enjoy, but they do that already in the movies. Give some lines to explain things just in case you didn't see Antman or Black Panther when watching Avengers. There will be consequential things that happen in the tv shows that will affect the movies. They will give some justification/recap/explanation in the movies.

It’s like expecting general audiences to watch Agents of Shield before seeing the movies. I agree, but the shows will need to have some connection, an amuse bouche, to the MCU movies even if watching all the shows isn't necessary to understand the main movie plots. That way the movies can entice some of the TV reluctant subscribers...such as yourself. Exactly! They’ll certainly be relevant to some degree. And available for anyone that wants them. All I am saying is that they will never be REQUIRED viewing for people who only watch the MCU movies. It’s kind of funny that multiple people are arguing that point with me now. It’s extremely obvious. Imagine if everyone who skipped WandaVision would be lost when they saw Dr Strange! Or if people needed to see the Hawkeye’s daughter show to understand the next movie. That would be a disastrous strategy.

It's like if you skipped Antman were you lost in Civil War? All of a sudden there's this new dude you never seen with power set you didn't know and motivation you didn't know but you weren't exactly lost if you did that. Say they do make Wanda the villain in Doc Strange 2. And say WandaVision shows her going insane with her powers growing and grief. Doc Strange 2 could in one scene bridge the gap between her last scene in End Game to her totally nuts in Doc Strange 2. A scene explaining through exposition what happened. You wouldn't be lost, but you would feel like you missed something. They do that all the time in the movies just in case you did miss a movie here or there. Using exposition and dialogue to bridge the gap. This is the same thing. The "tv shows" are just a 6 hour story instead of a 2.5/3 hour story. They will serve the same function as the interconnected movies. No more no less.

Also, what does this show have that Agents of SHIELD doesn't? Wanda and Vision. Loki has Loki. Falcon and the Winter Soldier has Falcon and the Winter Soldier. They have the characters from the movies played by the original actors starring in the show. Agents of SHIELD had a spin-off character made up for the movies and a couple appearances from Jackson as Fury.

Kamala Khan is going to be in Captain Marvel 2 after her show. You think they are going to go over her backstory for the movie? The same goes for adult Monica Rambeau being in WandaVision. And she will no doubt also be in Captain Marvel 2.
And Kate Bishop is not Barton's daughter.

They’re going alienate a lot of their general audiences that enjoy going to see the blockbuster movies but don’t want to invest time and money into a dozen shows as well. Even a hardcore fan like me is not going to watch ten hours of Teen Girl Becomes New Iron Man, or Teen Girl Becomes New Hawkeye. I will probably watch WandaVision at my friend’s house on his account. But I wouldn’t expect all casual movie goers to do the same. Ive heard the argument that that doesn’t matter because the MCU should be for “fans only”. But that philosophy will certainly cost the studio fans in the long term. Which is why I’ll say again that you guys are taking the shows too seriously.

Let’s be honest here. Most of these shows are completely and obviously superfluous. That’s why the big name characters are still in the movies, and Loki (the character who has already completed his arc and died) is on Disney Plus along with all the lame teenage knock off heroes.
