Let’s be honest here. Most of these shows are completely and obviously superfluous. That’s why the big name characters are still in the movies, and Loki (the character who has already completed his arc and died) is on Disney Plus along with all the lame teenage knock off heroes. Again: Black Widow. Which was meant to be a theatrical release. It’s only on the service because of COVID, dude. EDIT: it’s not even confirmed for streaming yet either. Still a theatrical release right now.

No one is saying you would be lost, if you didn't watch WandaVision, but WandaVision will affect Dr. Strange 2. It's like if you skipped Antman were you lost in Civil War? All of a sudden there's this new dude you never seen with power set you didn't know and motivation you didn't know but you weren't exactly lost if you did that. Say they do make Wanda the villain in Doc Strange 2. And say WandaVision shows her going insane with her powers growing and grief. Doc Strange 2 could in one scene bridge the gap between her last scene in End Game to her totally nuts in Doc Strange 2. A scene explaining through exposition what happened. You wouldn't be lost, but you would feel like you missed something. They do that all the time in the movies just in case you did miss a movie here or there. Using exposition and dialogue to bridge the gap. This is the same thing. The "tv shows" are just a 6 hour story instead of a 2.5/3 hour story. They will serve the same function as the interconnected movies. No more no less. Then it’s a mistake. They’re going alienate a lot of their general audiences that enjoy going to see the blockbuster movies but don’t want to invest time and money into a dozen shows as well. Even a hardcore fan like me is not going to watch ten hours of Teen Girl Becomes New Iron Man, or Teen Girl Becomes New Hawkeye. I will probably watch WandaVision at my friend’s house on his account. But I wouldn’t expect all casual movie goers to do the same. Ive heard the argument that that doesn’t matter because the MCU should be for “fans only”. But that philosophy will certainly cost the studio fans in the long term. Which is why I’ll say again that you guys are taking the shows too seriously. It all depends on how good/popular the shows are. I know many people who started going to the movies after they had the luxury of watching some of the movies on Netflix. They got into MCU after Age of Ultron because they finally watched the individual movies on their own time at their house. I don't know, why but it sounds like you have lesser esteem for tv shows. I mean they are spending movie level money and are set up as 1 story arc over 6 hours. And it's 6 hours not 10 btw so basically 2 movies worth. Would you have a problem with 2 Kate Bishop movies? That's basically what 12 shows are going to be. 2 movies worth of content released in between movies. And you kind of better get used of Teens in the movies soon as all things are pointing to Young Avengers while still keeping older characters. As the normal and now even the newer team of Avengers are aging out. Riri, Kate, recasting of Cassie, Ms. Marvel, etc... They are going to be the next wave with Antman, Falcon, Winter Soldier and now even Wanda being the veterans. It may alienate some people, but I heard the exact same thing when the MCU started getting big. I have to watch all these other movies for this movie to make sense. This won't work. It didn't hold true then and I don't think it will hold true now. Having multiple ways into movies actually made more people watch them. Same thing here.

I also think the Disney+ shows are going to take the place of the lower budget risky movies. The Ant-mans, Doc Strange, etc.
It's two fold one they get all the profit no sharing with theaters while getting the characters in the public knowledge base. We already know Ms. Marvel is going to be in Captain Marvel and grown up Monica Rambeau is in Wandavision. I doubt Moonknight will just stay in the shows and not jump to the movies either.
The second part is the shows are cheaper to make with huge budgets for tv shows but still less than a movie.
The shows are a more economical and profitable way to do what some of the other movies have done in the past.

It just looks to me like they’re able to expand into a places that the movies would never go anyway. Let’s say the streaming service didn’t exist, would we be getting a FemHawkeye movie when we never got an OriginalHawkeye movie? I doubt it. It’s just an expansion of sorts with Z List characters that otherwise would never see the light of day, kinda like the old Netflix Marvel stuff.

True I'm guessing they are hoping they can do for Moonknight, Kate, Cassie, Riri, etc what the movies did for Guardians, Antman, etc with less risk.
