Spoilery: I couldn't sleep so I watched it. My first feelings is this was step down in quality on all aspects from the first movie. There were some great parts, but it's overly long. You could cut out 30 minutes to make it leaner and punchier. I'm glad I watched it from the comforts of home not in a theater.
Seems that Wonder Woman was out of the spot light in her own movie at times. The effects on Cheetah were bad, but I knew that going in, some of the other effects where bad throughout the movie at times pulling me out of it. One example is her running in Cairo to the tanks. I went fuck that was a green screen shot from a CW show almost.
The internal story logic of the Dream Stone and how it works was broken. Why did Barbara get a second wish at the end?
Did anybody else get a rapey feeling after WW and Steve had sex? Think about it she had sex with a dude's body that couldn't give consent. I've only seen it once, but did I miss the part where Steve's Host's Consciousness went? If they said I must've missed it. I can only assume that he's there in the body too just suppressed. Again I might've missed that part. Why would the writers put the extra complication of having Steve possess a body. Why not just bring him back straight on. They way you don't have to deal with the moral ambiguity.
I think it should've been WW to fight for and ultimately rescend her wish not Steve talking her into it. Would've been better if he wanted to stay and she had to make the decision.
I think there is a movie in here that could've worked if Lord wasn't in it. Make it all about her and Barbara. That dynamic worked for me. The best part s of the movie (up until the shitty cgi fight) was Diana and Barbara.
That part was great. Wigg, Gal, and Chris were great in it. Gal will never be a great actress I don't think but she embodies the character well and I believe her performance and that's all you can ask.
Except for the Mall scene being a little goofy the rest of the movie was pretty balanced between comedy/drama.
The action was good, but with the length of the movie their were some droughts in the middle were some good editing could've made the action beats better timed.
The movie looks good scope scale and cinematography was great. Well except the WW vs Cheetah scene.
I like that the final resolution wasn't through typical superhero means. It wasn't done by beating the bad guy into submission but by a plea to all peoples to listen to their better angels.
I know I said that it was overly long but the one thing I would've done was added the cameo in the credits scene into the movie. Maybe not Linda doing exactly what she did, but have her be a turning point in the movie instead of an after thought.
So in the end was the movie bad? No. It's not great though. It's north of mediocre. So at least it's not grey area it has some impact at least. I believe I've rated the original WW an 8 or 8.5 depending on mood. I would probably give this a 6.5 to 7.
I guess now the DCEU for me is:
WW (8 or 8.5) WW84 (6.5 to 7) MOS (6 to 6.5) (rewatched recently and it raised a bit) SH (6) JL (5.5 to 6) BoP (5.5 to 6) AM (5 to 5.5) BVS (4.5 to 5) SS (4)

SPOILERS!
It seemed they decided to just repeat elements of the first film:
The fish out of water - instead of Diana in London, its now Steve in 1984
The message "love can save the world" is now "Truth can save the world"!
After the magic boat stupidity of the first film we now have a small jet that can fly from Washington to Egypt! Do they have that range?
Annoyances: Steve can go from flying WW1 era planes to sophisticated Jets no problem! The invisible jet - Diana reveals that she heard of some previously unmentioned power she tried once on a cup and she can make it work on a plane, first attempt!! Diana can fly because Steve explained in very simple terms what flying is! That post credits sequence....bad.
It was a long messy film, with no highlights. Wiig was good though.

I was kind of disappointed by it. It’s very inconsistent. I was stunned, stunned by how terrible it was. The first one had a weak third act, but was overall very entertaining. WW84 just sucked from start to finish. That mall scene was something out of an Ernest movie, nobody in that scene acted like a human being. The movie couldn't decide on a tone, and never really fleshed out the villain's motivation or even his ultimate plan.
The awful writing was made worse by the equally awful acting by everyone outside of the main cast. Even Pascal looked like a hack because the movie couldn't decide what kind of a character he was supposed to be.
I'm honestly blown away that that this script was filmed. Why did it have to be 1984? The period aspect didn't affect the story at all, why not set it in current times? How the hell can nothing happen in a movie that's 2 1/2 hours long?! Why was Chris Pine here? Why did they spend so much time on scenes that added nothing to the movie, when the villains were cardboard cutouts?
Director Patty Jenkins is proof that studios should always steer the ship from directors.

I’m not going to bother. The first bored me, this one is even longer at 2.5hrs. There is never enough interesting or layered plot in these super hero films to warrant such a lengthy runtime. They need to be tight and snappy. I do wonder why these comic book/superhero films always have to be 2.5 hours in length.

Watched this last night with my wife... and I'm shocked at how bad it was. Not bad in the way Suicide Squad was bad, but there was a lot of well executed and well acted scenes that were done in a very cringy manner.
I was a bit prepared for it because I had read reviews but my wife wasn't expecting anything. Within about 10 minutes of he film (in the mall scene) she tells me:
"Something is wrong. The first movie was so badass... why is this one so cheesy?"
Then towards the start of the 3rd act she says, "Well this a weird, silly movie."
And I have to agree. It's a decently executed movie that suffers from, well, being silly. From the over the top acting of extras to the unrealistic logic of the movie to the convoluted but cheesy plot to the amateurish CGI to WW's new powers.... it could best be described as silly. Almost cartoonish at times.
Anyway, it's worse than JL and Thor:TDW in my book.

It’s a problem affecting blockbuster movies in general. It’s how we wound up with a 3 hour Transformers movie. Or was it two of them clocking at 3 hours?

The first Thor movie would have benefited from a longer runtime for example and I can't imagine Infinity War being any shorter. This one, however, could have trimmed some fat.

I’m fine with long movies, but this movie really doesn’t earn its long running time.

When it should also be above the first two Wonder Woman films too. The plot of the sequel is a typical be careful what you wish for movie for children I don't find that remarkable in any way.

The first Wonder Woman film is solidly above MOS even from just pacing alone, nevermind character development.

You do realize those are very minor factors when compared to better story, better pacing, better lead character and better character development right? All of which WW did better than MOS.
