I'm talking about the Wonder Woman movie. I get the 80s nostalgia craze but why this year? It's a very particular number. Any movie with 1984 in its title is supposed to be deep, subversive, challenging. Something that makes its audience to consider tyranny and lies of their leaders and sins of their own society. But the movie is nothing more than a less amusing version of Bruce Almighty. So why 1984?

Because 1984 is the most 80sist year of the 1980s. Right in the middle. We also had Summer of 84 and American Horror Story: 1984. Neither had dick to do with George Orwell. It's just a fad.
