Anyone watched this on Netflix? I found it really remarkable and very touching.

Is MY OCTOPUS TEACHER silly like the premise sounds? No, the bond between filmmaker Craig Foster and the sea creature he finds feels as real as if it had happened with a domestic animal. It would've made for a great documentary short or even a long segment during the news, but 85 minutes were too much. In fact, most of the film is about following this mollusk around without any direct human interaction. It's something you'd see on a nature channel, so it doesn't feel cinematic, despite the great production values.

It's an amazing documentary. I'm glad it got the Oscar.

I watched it a few months ago. I quite liked it; the octopus is a very interesting animal about which I didn’t know much, and the underwater footage is gorgeous. I could have done without the New Age-y “the octopus taught me life lessons” side of it, but that’s a minor gripe.

As in someone teaches your octopus, or an octopus teaches you? Octopus teacher sounds like a great title. "I'm Rey Kahuka, Octopus Teacher."
