Don Everly, the surviving member of the '50's duo The Everly Brothers has died at age 83. His younger brother Phil pre-deceased him in 2014. The two brothers were very different from one another and were sometimes estranged. I hope they will reconcile in the afterlife.
RIP, Don Everly.

As noted, Don Everly passed away on August 21, 2021 in Nashville. He and his brother, Phil, were wonderful singers and songwriters. In a five-year span from 1957 to 1962, they had 15 top 10 hits. Their harmonies influenced the Beatles and Simon & Garfunkel in the 1960s, and a decade later inspired country rockers like Gram Parsons and Linda Ronstadt. He's remembered at the L.A. Times: Don Everly of the Everly Brothers His music meant a great deal to me when I was growing up. But I also had the good fortune to meet him in the early seventies, in a vet's office in North Hollywood. It was a long wait for both of us, and soon we were having a great talk about music, art, landscapes, and family. I will be forever grateful for that experience. And for his wonderful music. Rest in peace, Mr. Everly. Thanks for the memories. Don Everly 1937 - 2021

Charlie Watts, the drummer for The Rolling Stones, has died at age 80.
To tell the truth, I was never a fan of the Stones (I much preferred the Beatles), so I'm not qualified to deliver a eulogy. Hopefully, someone else is.
