Certain religious leaders keep preaching that the Corona virus 19 isn't that much of a serious threat? They do their preaching as if God will somehow protect them from getting sick. It like they would go swimming in a crocodile infested body of water thinking they won't get eaten, and if they do it's God's will.
I would like to hear everyone's thoughts on this.

Because their real God is Trump. Too puny. Mammon is more likely.

They lie: Numerous religious leaders, mostly evangelicals, claimed that Yahweh had spoken to them and guaranteed that Trump was absitively going to win the election. Kenneth Copeland did a huge belly laugh in front of his congregation (no masks, no social distancing) when he announced that Biden won. After the election, Paula White, Trump's spiritual advisor, was telling us angels from Africa and South America were coming here to overturn the election. Why did they lie? Because the gullible suck it up.
Or they're dumb: News cameras recorded a vigil outside the Nevada counting offices praying for Trump. How the f*** can Jehovah change the ballots that have already been cast? The time for Yahweh to intervene was before the voter marked the ballot, not after.

Because their real God is Trump. I think that is absolutely true. Let's not forget the political side to conservative Christianity's refusal to admit the existence of a pandemic even though they have no trouble believing other fantastic, unprovable, harmful, and sometimes silly things. These are not mega-churches; they are MAGA-churches and their savior is the current out-going (and he WILL be going) president.

I agree that some of these behaviors are based in pride and arrogance. Some people believe that God will protect them, and they want to show the world just how strong their faith is, and how pious they are. But the Bible says not to test God, and that's exactly what they're doing. Not a good idea.

I'm not up on knowing all the verses and chapters, but pretty sure this falls under Jesus saying we are not to put the Lord our God to the test.
