Any wiccans here? I was wondering about it lately, particularly the deities. According to Wiccapedia ( ) there is typically a Triunity Goddess and a Great Horned God. My take on these entities is that you're not actually worshipping them the way you would bow down in deference to the Abrahamic deities, esp not with punishment for lack of worship. But rather paying tribute, and in the end, at least if I was doing it, they would more represent metaphorical parts of either the human spirit or the universe in general. But that's just my quick take after a 2 minute scan of the article. Any other thoughts from more knowledgeable peeps?

IF you are really interested, more than a 2 minute scan of a wiki article and opinions on a message board not known to be populated by "Wiccans" might be useful.

I haven't read anything on Wicca since the early 2000's, but I'll give you my two pennies anyway. Back then (not sure about today) Wicca had become so broad that you could have almost any view of Divinity. There were Christian Wiccans, atheist Wiccans, hard polytheist Wiccans, soft polytheist Wiccans, pantheistic Wiccans, etc, etc, etc. In more traditional Wicca, there was the Lord and Lady, the masculine and feminine aspects of Divinity. The Goddess was represented by the moon, and her different aspects were the Maiden, Mother, and Crone (symbolized by the waxing, full, and waning moon, respectively). The God was symbolized by the solar year, with the Oak King reigning during the lighter half of the Year, from the Spring Equinox to the Fall Equinox (ie, the growing season), and the Holly King reigning during the darker half of the Year, from Fall Equinox to Spring Equinox (winter). Other traditions believe that the God dies at Samhain (Halloween) and is reborn at Yule (the winter solstice). It's very common for these aspects to be further subdivided into different pagan pantheons. But that's probably more information than you wanted.
Most Wiccans would say they honor Divinity, not worship it. There is reverence and respect, but not so much groveling, and for the most part, I'd say that Deity is not viewed as omnipotent. I would classify myself as a panentheist, I guess, which means that I see Divinity as both immanent and transcendent, being both nature and beyond nature. I'm not really comfortable with worshipping any God, much less a human being, which is probably why Jesus kind of freaks me out. I tend to see Divinity as something that is a part of us, and we are a part of it, and we should always strive to become our better selves, rather than allowing the animal to control us.
But again, I have no idea what the state of Wicca is these days. There used to be some really good debates on message boards years ago, but those forums are long gone now, and what little I've seen from self-proclaimed Wiccans in recent years is pretty much garbage. Their beliefs seem to be shaped mostly by TikTok videos. Ick. Too bad.

Wicca kinda interests me too. I think the whole thing is a bit too woo for me personally though; I read a book by a Wiccan and lost interest when she started talking about spells and crystals. But I find the ethics and some of the metaphysical stuff quite engaging.
