Multiple viewings turned this into a comedic classic for me. I'll admit, first couple viewings had me a bit puzzled. John Goodman is the real star here for me.

6/10 - I know I'm in the minority, but thought it was pretty average.

Characters were great, but the story was not that great. A 7 for me.

9/10 for me, I found it hilarious, with great characters. I a fan of the Coen brothers work and this is one of their classics, IMHO.

The funniest movie I've ever seen. 11/10. It's definitely up there. Its humour is brilliantly more nuanced than most; I think it does have the most rewarding sense of humour if you will. 'Phone's ringing, Dude.' slays me every f'n time.

Yeah, the comedy is blacker than midnight, and the wit is cumulative both within the movie (e.g., the Dude appropriating others' colloquialisms the whole movie) and on repeat viewings.

Even more fascinating & appreciative, I react differently with each viewing. I once nearly cried laughing so hard at the visual of Goodman going to town on the parked Corvette.

You to have got me wanting to see this again...now! And it's one I don't own yet, so Amazon here I come!

10/10. There's a reason why this film has a cult following. It's easily quotable, and does make you think a lot. The Coen brothers did one heck of a job. The Dude: What the...what the hell is this???Walter: My dirty undies, Dude. Laundry. The WHITES.

10/10 Along with Barton Fink and Miller's Crossing my favorite Coen brothers picture, where everything works to perfection.

Didn't care much for it on first viewing, but this homage to a man who refuses to fit in soon grew on me. The character is supposedly based on an affluent bohemian who helped the Coens financially in their early days.
I find myself saying "in the parlance of our day" and "This aggression will not stand, man".
