flores botched that play. Sure, but Familia was all over the place. Had absolutely zero command.

Familia has no control of the ball. He is using up his 9 lives very fast.

a pitcher is only as good as his defense.

If only Whoever did not order Familia (and Reed) into yesterday's game, a game where the Mets were leading 6-1, a situation that was not a hold or close.
If only Whoever stopped sending Familia into non-close situations to "boost his self-esteem".
Then Familia's arm would not have been overtaxed and he would have closed the game.
Whoever also knows Familia is a rockyroad pitcher who loves loading bases in order to get himself angry enough at himself to pitch properly, much like Rocky loves having his face brutalized in order to get himself angry enough at himself to box back, yet Whoever ordered Familia (and Reed) to waste an appearance yesterday anyway, because self-esteem and all.
Bullpen mismanagement continues, not Familia's fault.

a pitcher is only as good as his defense. The defense didn't walk two guys or let something called Christian Arroyo launch a bases-clearing double.

He had a chance to bail out the defense still with the lead, but then allowing 3 earn runs.

They got to let the starters go deeper into the game instead of overusing the bullpen.

Mets are overrated. They have plenty of talent but don't seem to know how to use it.
But to the Mets fans like Klaw and Hairy, I feel your pain. The Marlins' supposedly terrific bullpen has blown 4 run leads twice in one week.

And now he has an arterial clot in his shoulder, may need surgery and is facing a lengthy absence. When you're a Met...

The Mets are a train wreck, simple as that. Half the roster is hurt, and it seems as though they are in chaos.

and yet they aare playing better now with the njuries. it seems you really hate them, xeliou. i know we are your division rival, but they still have a chance at getting to the postseason. a 4-2 home stand and we are only about 5 games out of first after beng 10 games out weeks ago.

They were playing just abysmal baseball a few weeks ago that set them back in the standings. Now, with ALLLLL the injuries, with their two most indispensable players being out, they are just a game under .500. I'd say that's a huge victory given that we are just 1/5 through the season. Cespedes will come back in another 2-3 weeks, shitface Duda is coming back tonight, Conforto has been brilliant, Granderson will come around like he always does, Reyes has been playing significantly better, I'm not really worried about the offense. But the pitching, man there are some serious red flags. Syndergaard won't be back until August, Harvey has been just dreadful, Gsellman has been terrible, Wheeler has been good enough and DeGrom has been striking out a ton of guys, but he's also giving up a lot more walks and runs than you'd expect. And of course, in vintage Met fashion, there's no actual set timetable for Seth Lugo or Steven Matz to come back (they're both just now starting to throw off a mound again) because why the fuck would there be. Throw in Familia's injury and an already overworked bullpen is about to get taxed into oblivion. So ineffective starters with a shortened and beleaguered bullpen isn't a recipe for long-term success. Their only real hope is to try to play an AL-style of ball where they just bludgeon teams to death until Syndergaard comes back and gives their rotation a bit of length.

Agreed. Picking up Milone was a good idea. I liked him in oakland. Even though he had the neck injury and hasn't been good since, it at least gives us depth.
I am tryng to put together the 7-8-9 combo. Maybe robles-blevins-reed..... even though robles isn't that reliable, someone has to step up.
