I always loved Julia, remember when she cut herself on the Johnny Carson show?

I could never cook like Julia, I don't have the patience, but I liked watching her because she made me laugh. I also loved watching Martha Stewart do her crafting, she made it look so easy and she had a soothing voice. Julia did not have a soothing voice but she was a "character." I never tried any of Julia's recipes.

She is awesome, subtle and hilarious. Her concept was don't be afraid to try, improvising is great and cooking can be fun, not just a chore! :-)

What is a good recipe of hers you like? More than any one recipe, I loved her "It's OK, don't worry about it," attitude. She carried it off with a comforting humor. It helped to instill confidence in me, and I'm sure in many others. - I recall her dropping a chicken, or a huge fish, on the floor. They didn't stop taping, and re-do it. She just picked it up, saying that it hadn't been cooked, yet. "These things happen." - When crumbs from a chocolate cake appeared during icing, she sprinkled chocolate powder all over it. "No one will care." She was also innovative. - She pulled out a blow-torch to caramelize/color something ... which I thought was very funny. Now, small torches are available as kitchen utensils. - She drizzled a cooling, thick syrup over a broomstick, laid between the backs of two chairs, to create "moss," on a Yule log. And, she did it, again, over an inflated balloon. When the syrup hardened, she popped the balloon, and had a sugar "cage" to put over the dessert that she was making.

I love Julia Childs. Her voice could set my teeth on edge. You know who she reminds me of a bit? Hyacinth Bucket.
I enjoyed that she made everything seem like fun, and she obviously enjoyed what she was doing. I've never made any recipe of hers, and I haven't seen any of her episodes recently (such as on youtube), but I do feel like I'd like to watch them now.

Especially fun when teamed with her friend Jacques Pepin Their "feud" of white vs black pepper was LOL worthy.

I think she was all about French cuisine. I doubt she was more likely to bbq on television than at home. I used to watch her. Still do when I want a French recipe. I have tried her recipes including my favorite of hers, beouf bourguignon, which I made once for company and it did not fail to please. I served it in crepes, though, unlike the recipe called for, because I had had it that way in a French restaurant once and that is my favorite version.
