"She's done bigger films than I have done. Obviously - she's massively famous. But, yeah, she is (a role model). She has a lot of bad stuff to deal with. She gets a really hard time from the press sometimes, and she deals with it really gracefully. Also, she's one of my best friends, so it's hard to talk about her really. We're really close. Keira Knightley and I are very tight."

As Sally Sparrow in "Blink" (2007), often cited as one of the very best episodes in the 12 seasons of the Doctor Who 2005 reboot.

Nice! Several years ago, she received a Tony nomination for her work in David Hare's play 'Skylight' opposite Bill Nighy. Hare's work has had a resurgence during lockdowns which I find interesting.
I'd like to have seen this performance of the play, but here's a picture.

She looks so different now, I didn't even recognize her when I saw the trailers for Promising Young Woman. Excellent performance, though.

I saw a clip on a chat show last week and it caught my attention so I added it to my list of new films I'd like to see.

Rough Clip
Yeah. Personally I liked it, but it seems divisive.

I liked her in the disappointing Inside Llewyn Davis. Her and the eternally surprising Justin Timberlake. I still can't get over the fact that I've liked everything I've seen Timberlake act in.

I've enjoyed Justin Timberlake's movies. He seems like a nice guy if you like playing roulette, hitting up the ladies and drinking tequila.
I didn't warm to 'Inside Llewyn Davis' (2013) though it's another interesting indie project undertaken by Carey Mulligan, and I'm delighted she got to work with the Coen Brothers. A substantial number of movie fans seem to pick that as their favourite Coen Brothers movie nowadays, or certainly top 5. I don't dislike the film either. It's a film I look forward to seeing again without this time thinking too much about the real Greenwich Village folk scene that inspired it.

I think the tight, economical, meticulously crafted, existential thrillers of filmmakers like John Flynn, Walter Hill and John Carpenter were an influence on 'Drive', in addition to some clear European crime cinema influences. I'd like to see more directors adapt the crime novels of American author James Sallis, who's said to be greatly influenced by writers like Albert Camus, Alain Robbe-Grillet, Michel Butor and Jean-Patrick Manchette. As far as I'm aware, 'Drive' remains the only Sallis feature film adaptation to date.

Two of my favourite Carey Mulligan movies are directed by Danish filmmakers : Lone Scherfig's 'An Education' (2009) which I watched and enjoyed again when it played on U K television a couple of weeks back, and Nicolas Winding Refn's crime film 'Drive' (2011). They are both from Copenhagen.

I agree, those directors you mentioned definitely would have had an influence over Drive; Walter Hill's The Driver especially would have been a big part of that. Drive also recalls the gritty and somber atmosphere of all those 1990s neo film noir thrillers.

She has the face of a gemini. Explain. If you look at the twin faces of Paulette Goddard, Marilyn Monroe, Danielle Harris, Linnea Quigley, Lea Thompson etc etc, female gemini performers have an open face that conceals the twin personalities.
