As is usually the case, one right-wing conspiracy theory leads to another and is often linked to fundamentalist religion.
Steven Brandenburg is the notorious pharmacist from Wisconsin who was charged with ruining hundreds of COVID vaccines because he believed they were a giant hoax designed to change people’s DNA. Well, it should come as no surprise that he also believes the world is flat, believes End Times prophecies, and, the most crack brained of all, that the sky is a manmade object created to stop us from seeing god.
Psychiatrists have found no evidence of any mental illness.
Brandenburg now faces a decade in prison on top of a fine of up to $250,000 for each of the two charges for which he’s pleading guilty.

Psychiatrists have found no evidence of any mental illness. Huh?

Psychiatrists have found no evidence of any mental illness. Huh? I had the same reaction but that is what the reporting I saw said. Seems like being incredibly stupid, gullible, bigoted, and hateful makes one normal, according to the psychiatrist's handbook.

We have a long tradition of mass insanity, hysteria and crackpot conspiracy theories in this country, dating all the way back to Salem. I don't understand it, and I don't know what can be done about it. The internet is certainly making everything worse. It's like watching a slow motion train wreck. I'm just profoundly thankful that I don't have kids, so I don't really have to care too much. Not my problem.

Oh, just go back a few hundred years more and look at Medieval Europe; they make us look tame in comparison. I like this quote from a character in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, when interviewing a shady 'preacher'...

I know Africa is rife with conspiracy theories, too. I was in a tribal region of Ethiopia, and there were apparently rumors going around that I was a spy from the government. Sigh. People get together and gossip and make up stories, no matter if they're online or in the real world.

When I was in junior high, I remember talking to this other boy. As angels were in Heaven, and Heaven was "up", he believed that the angels were sitting on top of the clouds and that's why we couldn't see them.

LOL, my very young and naive mother, back in the day (she is now 98) on her first airplane flight, was shocked that she saw no angels on the tops of the clouds. Sadly, she is still that naive about reality.

So when was this sky thing built? We all know for a fact that he destroyed the Tower of Babel, flooded the world and sent AIDS down upon us but he couldn’t stop Sky Force?

You've used that CSI quote several times over the past 28 months, but you included the punch line back in 2018: Touche! Good catch! The full quote does improve the context. I am impressed that you remember me using that quote before, and that you found the full one, presumably looking through the many seasons of the show on IMDb.Correction, by searching my post history. I am so unskilled in computer work, I never do things the easy way, lol!
