At least Denver and Indy both beat Brady en route to Super Bowl victories. Just like Brady went through Manning twice en route to Super Bowl victories. He would've done it more often if Payton wasn't so busy going one and done. I actually think Brady was there to low-key troll Manning. Congrats Mr. 2-2 Super Bowl record (one of which featured a defensive player winning MVP)! I'll just sit here and golf clap with my 7 championship rings. Did I mention I'm still playing and we're the defending champs, while you're getting inducted into the HOF after limping away from the game? I'm just saying - "if you can't beat em, boo em" doesn't work if two of the mentioned teams did beat him. We're not talking about LeBron getting booed by the Pacers, Hawks, Raptors, Knicks, 76ers etc here. And Peyton's record against Brady in the playoffs was 3-2 (this is where you say "but Brady would've beat him more often if they'd faced each other more often).

(Peyton did have nine one-and-dones.) Brady has more rings than Denver and Indianapolis combined. As the article points out, Brady's combined record against those three franchises is 28-12. So yes, it works. Yay, Peyton's record against Brady in the playoffs was 3-2. Brady has won almost twice as many Super Bowls as Peyton even played in. Peyton's overall record against Brady is 6-11. They both went through each other twice en route to titles. Peyton's post season record overall: 14-13. Brady's post season record overall: 34-11. 7 titles to 2. But yeah, if you find a small enough sample size, i.e. 'whomever had home field that year in the playoffs, and Peyton didn't already shit the bed by now,' Manning wins 3-2. How is that an argument worth making? Manning desperately needed that home field, too. Not exactly home dominance by Peyton, is it? My favorite part about the wiki entry is that it puts the word rivalry into quotes. As if to say, "If you can really call it a rivalry."

I'm not interested in making any argument, other than "if you can't beat em, boo em" really doesn't work. "But what about the regular season!" "But only because he had home field!" "But if they met more often in the playoffs, and hopefully in Foxboro, Brady would've won!" These are all excuses and angles in a debate that I'm not making. Who cares that they booed Brady? Arians was with some of those Steeler teams that lost to Brady, too. He's laughing about it. Peyton and Brady are friends. He made a reference in his speech to Brady's inevitable enshrinement - does he need Pats fans responding "yeah with more titles than you, and don't you forget it, loser"?

I brought this whole thing up because I thought it was funny, you're the one who put an angle to it. "Well those teams have beaten Brady on the way to winning the Super Bowl, so there." They also lost to him, more often than not. Which is why my original commentary stands. I don't have to make excuses for Brady, I'm not the one who initially made an argument about playoff head to head record. Don't tell part of the story, tell the whole story. I just filled in the blanks. I think Brady went to support his friend and competitor, I only went the wise guy route once you decided to get smug about it. Does Brady need asshole fans of your team booing him for simply supporting his friend? I'm just a guy cracking wise on the internet, it's clear that it's the Manning fans who were booing that have the real inferiority complex.

You were essentially saying "They couldn't beat Brady." I'm just saying "They did beat him... and won Super Bowls. Peyton even beat Brady in the postseason more times than he lost to him." Your response is a long-winded way of saying "but Brady won more titles" while explaining away Peyton's victories. Who cares? That's not the argument. Shall we now argue about who was more smug and when the smugness began?

Shall we now argue about who was more smug and when the smugness began? The smugness began with the loser Manning fans booing Brady because they know Brady is better. It was continued when you inexplicably took it personally when I had a laugh at their (not Peyton's, mind you) expense. I don't have to explain away Peyton's victories. You're the one going out of your way to find a sample size that proves Manning was somehow better. 3-2 in the playoffs. Overall Brady owns him (which settles whatever debate you were starting by bringing up head to head in the first place), and Brady was more successful in the playoffs overall, which settles the debate on who was better, which again I did not start in this thread. You don't seem like the kind of guy who would've booed Brady the other day, so I don't know why you got so defensive over my initial post. I can tell you that Manning is one of the greatest QBs of all time and if he showed up to Brady's induction, I wouldn't boo him simply because I was mad some people think he's better. Those fans were assholes, just like the ones booing Brady at the ceremony during Super Bowl 50. They need to get over it already. This didn't start out as an attack on Peyton, go back and reread my initial post if you have to. "If you can't beat 'em, boo 'em," is a perfectly defensible comment when the guy being booed is 28-12 against the people booing. I was mocking them, not Manning.

What debate? I'm saying "Manning beat Brady occasionally, here are some times when he did." Who took it personally? Look man, everyone knows that Brady has seven rings; everyone knows he's the greatest (regardless of those fans). I'm not arguing otherwise. I only took umbrage to this idea that those teams "couldn't beat Brady." Two of the three beat him on some significant occasions. It wasn't even about Manning when I made that first comment. If that's smug or overly pedantic, so be it. Brady got booed because he had big rivalries with those teams, not because "they couldn't beat him." (Except the Steelers)

Joe Burrow struggling mightily at camp Hate to hear this
** Apparently he's improved a bit over the last couple of days - being held out of the preseason opener
May have to switch my Week #1 picks to Wentzy and the Colts since he's good to go and the Vikes over the Bengals..........

(Except the Steelers) You took it personally, right out of the gate. There's no reason to be having this discussion. Next time I put a spin on a timeless adage, I'll be more clear. When I say "Can't beat 'em," I mean overall dominance as opposed to literally being undefeated. Is that better? Brady got booed because those fans are angry about his place in NFL history. This isn't the playing field, it's Canton. Did the Steelers fans and Cowboys fans boo their rivals when they were mentioned? I bet they didn't. Those loser fans wouldn't have bothered booing if Manning had 7 rings and Brady had 2, that's what it comes down to.

Weren't the folks at the HOF ceremony just having good natured fun with TB?
That's how I took at least - apologies didn't read all the posts above
That's Peyton's personality - he's a fun loving guy - and it's pretty much TB - they're both tremendous sports with great personalities.
I thought Tom was smiling and 'got it'?

Niners sign Ha Ha Clinton-Dix
I remember I wanted this guy coming out of college and was upset the Pack took him a few picks prior
Looks like things didn't pan out for him. Couldn't even stick with the Cowboys putrid 'D'.
Been on the market for awhile.

The most obvious bluff in NFL history? Have you heard/read anything on how Lawrence is performing in camp?
Haven't stumbled across anything or gone out of my way to look....
Just saw that Zach Wilson and Joe Burrow were struggling, Justin Fields is impressing - but I think this is all dependent on whose blog your reading, who may have an agenda, etc - like Jalen

Haven’t seen a lot (unsurprisingly; it’s Jacksonville after all) but from what I have seen, he’s had some good days, some bad. Hasn’t completely blown the media away and hasn’t stunk up the joint either. I remember seeing a clip of him throwing a TD to Tebow while being “pressured” by stationary practice dummies. See why training camp doesn’t tell us all that much?

Steelers acquiring LB Joe Schobert from the Jags. Great pickup for the Steelers, they will have one of the NFL’s best LB units, Schobert and Devin Bush will make for a great inside LB pairing.
