Not sure if there was one of these similar "last watched films" threads in the old animation board, but since I do have a bunch of animated titles lying around, and will most likely try to see a few of them within the next few weeks, I thought it would be okay to start up one, where we could discuss and rate the latest seen animated movie, and also maybe pick up a few interesting recommendations, as well.
The last one I saw, was actually yesterday, through the american animated Smallfoot (2018), which follows a hidden community of yeti's, living far above the danger of the human race, but where a group of curious young yeti's sets out on a journey, to prove to their elders, that the legendary smallfoot, actually do exist.
Picked it up through one of my many impulse purchases, and while it kind of started off, a little too "cute" and "hyperactive" in the facial and body expressions, which seemed a little too forced at times, the plot and characters kind of begins to settle in after the first 30 minutes, and then I started to enjoy it more, as I was almost ready to hand in a negative rating. Thankfully the film managed to keep up the pace and charm, even if some of the singing parts was not to my taste (rarely ever is), and the animation was also impressive, specially towards then end, where the yeti gang travel into the big human city.
Still, I am not sure I will keep this one in my movie collection. Kind of a decent/good film, but nowhere near a classic, or close to that, but for the younger audience I guess it was a hit.
6/10

The last animated film I watched was Okko's Inn from 2018 as well. It's on Netflix, I've been trying to watch more stuff on there lately. I don't want to give a synopsis as I'm a fan of going into films as blind as possible. I really, really enjoyed this one, definitely a movie right up my ally and I got teary eyed by the end. 8/10

I watched Kung Fu Panda a few days ago. I hadn't seen any of these movies before now--I'm not really a fan of Jack Black. But I ended up enjoying it. Great story, tasteful humor, and an excellent message. I look forward to eventually watching the other two.
My next animated movie will be WALL-E.

Gnomeo & Juliet (2011) Another forgettable computer animated film, which is not all bad looking, but just too much of the same hyperactive and annoying main characters and lame jokes, goes on, for way too long. Seen it once, never again.
I guess these Gnome themed titles just do not sit too well with me, as I had a go at Gnome Alone, and that one did not impress me too much either.

Treasure Planet - 7/10
Probably not the best but it has a lot of entertaining and warming moments with great animation. Didn't deserve to flop that badly.

It was Jiang Ziya. I know nobody cares. The visuals were quite good but the characters were a bit too stereotypical. China's really starting to wear out their welcome with their old legends. Dahufa is better because although it's fantasy, it includes some plant people instead of the typical mythical characters. But that film was I a little lacking in emotive characters. I hope that they try something out of the ordinary like sci fi or something more philosophical like the Asian version of Everybody Rides the Carousel. I suppose that in some ways the execution is more important than the idea as Rock Dog and Next Gen had good premises but lackluster execution. Rock Dog has the main character succeed with no talent, no work, and a lot of panache. I'd watch live action sci fi from China for variety but you know how the Asian live action mostly has the bland pretty people like a more extreme version of Hollywood.

I just finished watching Barefoot Gen 2. It's decent, better than I expected for a movie set three years after the atomic blast, but has some annoying emotional tropes just like the first one.
6 out of 10.

The Death and Return of Superman (Its really two different movies made into one movie, The Death of Superman and the Reign of The Supermen) The first part (The Death of Superman) i give 7.5/10. The second part (Reign of the Supermen) i give 5/10. So i rate The Death and Return of Superman 6.2/10
Injustice 6.5/10
Justice League: Dark 7/10

“The Summit of the Gods”, a French adaptation of a Japanese manga about mountain climbing. Highly recommended. It will be on Netflix at the end of November. The trailer is already out.

A Silent Voice
It's a really good film. Kyoto Animation's work was honestly breathtaking. Voice acting was great. Writing was pretty good too. The only problem was the fact that there's this character in the movie who is introduced midway through but legit does next to nothing all movie long and has almost zero bearing on the story, but he's still made to be an important part of the main character's life. They should've definitely fleshed out that character a bit more or just excluded him entirely.
