xystophoros, I don't believe Harden's poor play was his taking it out on somebody. I refuse to believe a professional athlete would do something like that. But it is odd that I have seen such behavior (JR, Melo) in recent years. Never saw anything like that before (maybe I just didn't notice), but I guess it is possible in this new day of "I demand respect" athletes, stuff like this is even possible in a playoff game. Perhaps Harden really did...nah, no way. Right?

It's very possible that he tanked the game, though we'll probably never find out why. As others have said, I doubt it was for the money, as nobody who could have paid him enough to throw the game would have wasted their money on something so frivolous, especially when Houston was unlikely to win the series, anyway.
Maybe that was why he threw in the towel: he knew he wasn't going to win the series, and even if he could somehow pull it off, he was going to get body-slammed by the Warriors in the WCF, so he figured, "Screw it, might as well let it end tonight"?
