It has some flaws, but it is an interesting watch to see how II was originally intended to have been released while it was being filmed at the same time as S1
There are also a couple of scenes/alternate scenes not used for the Theatrical release, and some alternate footage used too.
Just keep in mind, the film is a "What If" version, and should be considered as such, since the ending of S1 was changed after Donner's version of II was scrapped.
I think some parts are better, while I still prefer parts of Lester's film that actually made it to the theaters.

It's my preferred version of the film and favourite Superman movie overall.
The changes from the Richard Lester are extensive. Marlon Brando features prominently, for example, and there's a completely different tone compared to the theatrical cut. The goofiness is massively toned down and it captures much of the feel of the 1978 film. I'd refer to it as a massive improvement - and I loved the original Superman II. Would definitely recommend you check it out.
