I just checked Wikipedia and there are only SIX Suncoast videos left in the country! I live about 40 minutes from one of them, which is located in Eatontown New Jersey at the Monmouth Mall. This place kicked ass back in the late 90's-2010ish. Of course, digital media was a huge blow to physical media so a lot of Suncoast videos started liquidating and boarding up the windows around the time practically every last music store went out of business. The 2000's have been a dark time for indoor malls. Gamestop bought up all the other game stores like Babbages, Electronics Boutique and Funco Land. Walden Books, Borders and B Dalton closed down years ago and now Barnes & Noble is the only one left. Kay Bee Toys went out of business years ago and Toys R Us followed recently. I Think we still have an FYE but Camelot Music, Record Town, Sam Goody (awesome place!) Tower Record and the Wall were either converted into FYE locations or they went out of business all together. There is nothing really left at the indoor malls worth my time.

I actually cried when I heard they were going out of business. There are two of them in this area. One I have always shopped in since 1969. There were two sales ladies there who always helped me. I loved their merchandise - they had clothing like no other department store. I loved their jewelry department and shoe department. And their sales!!! OMG, what you could get for a pittance!! And now they're gone.

Platekompaniet in Oslo City, not because I so frequently visit them anymore (too pricy), but because they are as of now, most likely the last official music and movie store left in my country, and last year it shrinked down in size, and I am really not sure it will survive for much longer. Sure, they have hold on, for over 3 decades, but to visit downtown, and not have even one music store to browse around in, that is just, well, kind of depressing for someone who is a big music and movie collecter.

Shopping at physical stores is rubbish nowadays. All the stuff I want (at a reasonable price) is online.

......if they aren't already ?? SAVE FERRIS IRL- my local comic shop, Michaels, and Target. The rest I can make up for in some other way. And now that I think about, probably Target too. Online- Amazon. They're the evil empire, but I cant do without. They got me.

Lord & Taylor first opened as a dry goods store in New York City’s Lower East Side in 1826. Founded by English immigrants Samuel Lord and George Washington Taylor, the store grew into a mainstay for luxury shoppers and is credited for exhibiting one of the first animated Christmas window displays. I loved their NY store, and "my" store was at the Fashion Center in NJ.

The day I have to buy all my groceries online, having teenagers &/or disenfranchised adults pick out my food, is when it's all over.

I haven't been to a book store in years. They have been gone from our area for years.
I so miss just walking and looking.
It makes me sad.

Through the pandemic My daughter had delivery. I didn't want that. I too do NOT want someone picking out my groceries. I'm picky who touches my melons!

Every once & awhile, for $5-10 to try something new it's fine. Online it's all about search & click.

There are still some independents around our area, and some really neat used book stores, too. I love browsing in book stores (and usually walk out with a minimum of 4 books!). There are two where our daughter lives, and we also found one about 30 minutes in the opposite direction from where we live.

I like Nordstrom's and Macy's but it seems like all department stores are slowly going out of business. Back in the 70's B. Altman's went out of business. It was another luxury department store, and I also shopped there. It was in the same Center as Lord & Taylor's. Nordstrom's and Neiman Marcus just don't have the same great vibe that L&T's did. Nordstrom does have some good sales, though. And they also have an awesome shoe department.

Guess you can do that online but.. In person there's a thrill. Lol

I don't know what I'll do when more clothing stores go out of business, as Debenhams now has. For me it's a tactile experience - I have to feel the material of the clothes before I will buy them. You can't do that online. The same with everything actually. Books, vegetables, I have to touch them and hold them in my hand before I'll buy them.

Nordstrom's did have men's shirts you couldn't find anywhere else. I guess most high end clothes are bought online now. The hoi polloi shop at Walmart and it's thriving. Those stores always had unique items, which I loved. But to your point, yes, I see a lot of that type of purchasing happening on line.
