No shortage there I don't think. Spoilers obviously.
A.M.I., pretty good idea, but the movie in general left something to be desired, and the whole ending, it's so bad it's not even laughably bad, it's 'doesn't anybody know the first thing about police investigation?' bad. It's 'real life paramedic watching Fox's 9-1-1' bad. It's 'Nostalgia Critic bat credit card meltdown' bad.
Followers, great great idea, up until the evangelical cult from hell in the middle of the woods with all the swaying doll like women in white gowns.
Playback, not bad, not great, very cool idea, but still a lot of unanswered questions.

It was a good idea to spoof/parody slashers in the 1980s (Student Bodies, Pandemonium, Wacko, National Lampoon's Class Reunion), but none executed expertly as early Zucker Brothers movies.

Death Ship and Ghost Ship, and I'm sure others.
The best of the people happening upon an abandoned and possibly haunted ship in the ocean movies that I've seen is Triangle, but that's not really what that one's about.
It's a great setup and makes for incredible atmosphere but nobody has capitalized on it properly yet as far as I can tell.

Urban Legend - a serial killer patterning their murders off of urban legends (which are already creepy on their own) should have been a scarier movie

I thought it was pretty good, but yeah, it could've been better.

Somehow, I just did not enjoy Ghost Ship, but Death Ship for me, was surely a much more creepy and interesting film. Triangle? Is that the mini-series by Bryan Singer? I have that somewhere on DVD, but never gotten around to watch the entire thing. Might do so, one day.

The Lighthouse (2019)
I have always loved lighthouses, both as places, and potential horror film locations. I dreamt of being a lighthouse keeper when I was a child.
Dunno why, but this film didn't quite work for me 🤷♀️
PS... They automated all the lighthouses as I was growing up, so I never got to live my childhood dream of becoming a wicky ☹️

Death Ship and Ghosy Ship were both pretty much the same for in being watchable but squandering the potential of that idea. Triangle is a 2009 film by Christopher Smith starring Melissa George. It's not really the same kind of thing, but it does share that idea of people boarding a seemingly abandoned ship in the ocean. But it goes to much different places than the standard haunted vessel movies mentioned above. I remember liking quite a bit, but I don't think of it as being the same kind of movie as those. It's apparently free on IMDb TV. I don't think I've watched anything on there, but that's what it says when I look up the title.

They automated all the lighthouses as I was growing up, so I never got to live my childhood dream of becoming a wicky ☹️ I remember a few years ago there was a call put out to ask for a Lighthouse keeper on some remote island in Canada, and they were shocked by the number of applicants. The appeal of months and years of solitude at a time was apparently appealing to far more people than they anticipated. I'd have to see that movie again, it was super elusive and odd, but he absolutely nailed the atmosphere and visual approach. It could be considered a horror movie, but it's also a Pinteresque drama and character driven comedy. It's a trip. I watched several Lighthouse themed movies after that and it's far and away my favorite.

The concept of Slender Man sure sounded great, but the execution was just too tame to really score as an effective horror movie.

Oof, yeah, no shortage there. Some that come to mind for me: The Final Girls (gutsy premise to which the flick never lives up: not scary enough to be a slasher, funny enough to be a spoof, ’80s enough to be an ’80s homage, or emotional enough to be a drama) Halloween III (the low budget and lackluster directing kill the great premise and first-rate Dan O’Herlihy performance) Scream 4 (the script touches on interesting ideas—fame, celebrity, heroine revealed to be villain à la Christie’s Peril at End House —but never delves into them. As usual, the producers should’ve stuck with Kevin Williamson’s original screenplay) Halloween 2018 (again, some interesting ideas here, especially with Curtis’ character’s obsession with Myers. But it quickly becomes a generic and overproduced slasher) Us (Jordan Peele’s poorly written screenplay ruins his excellent premise and pictorial sense) There are certainly more; these just came to mind. And this list doesn’t begin to touch on those horrors I like but think could’ve been even better ( April Fool’s Day, Halloween 4).

Oh yeah I saw the trailer for that one, and immediately lost all interest after that.
Never cared for this one, somehow though it always seemed like I was alone in that opinion. It's not about it doesn't follow the franchise, it's not about there's no Michael Myers, you could name it anything, and the result would be the same. Interesting idea, neat bad guy grandstanding monologue, but just meh.
I agree, I love April Fool's Day but something feels like it's missing. I love Halloween 4 though so I'm curious what you think could've made it better.

Below (2002) - I love the idea of a ghost story set on a submarine, but somehow the movie barely rises above mediocrity despite a well-thought-out plot.
Ready Or Not (2019) - I felt this should've been far more inventive and a lot scarier.

I liked that one, I've said it before, despite being a submarine, that's what Ghost Ship, released the same year, SHOULD'VE been.
Didn't really get what the 'true' story of what happened to the lieutenant commander was supposed to be.

I wanted to like it very much, I thought it was fairly well-made and the cast did a decent job, but somehow it fell short of my expectations. I believe Darren Aronofsky was originally attached to the project, he might've been a better fit than David Twohy's more workmanlike approach.
I would have to rewatch it to answer your question about the lieutenant commander.
