Aside from Ren and Stimpy and The Angry Beavers, the Nick lineup was quite lackluster. So Disney wins by default.

Disney gets my vote, of course there's some bias because those were the ones I was allowed to watch. Even if we'd grown up watching them, Disney still wins.

I think it's close. Those Disney cartoons were on network TV after school and Saturday mornings, so everyone could watch them. You had to have cable to watch those Nick shows. It's almost not a fair fight because so many more people could watch the Disney stuff. All that said, I still give Disney the edge.

I prefer NIck just for Hey Arnold and Rocket Power. I think that both produced much better work later, though I hate to be a cynic all the time.

Hey Arnold with those classic episodes like “Pigeon Man” Pigeon man is a good character. I liked the comet episode and Helga on the Couch among others. Stoop Kid and The Chocolate Boy both are interesting characters. I didn't have cable for most of my youth so I only saw episodes here and there at friend's houses and such. I think that if more live action shows were like Hey Arnold then I would watch them more.

Disney had better animation, this is something you simply cannot deny.
Nickelodeon did better with their live action shows, Hey Dude, All That, Are You Afraid of the Dark, Clarissa Explains it All, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Kenan and Kel, etc.

Catdog...that's a name I have not heard in a long time...
But yeah, I watched way more Nick as a kid. Rugrats, Hey Arnold, and Doug especially.
Cartoon Network had them both beat, though.

Yeah, I watched a lot of Nick and Fox Kids, but Cartoon Network was awesome. Catdog was one of my favorites, very underrated. I was watching Paramount+ yesterday and I thought about all these old Nick shows. It’s hard to imagine a decade with better cartoons. And MTV even had “Bevis and Butthead” as well as “Daria”. Fox Kids had Tiny Toons, Animanics, Pinky and the Brain, Batman the Animated Series, Superman the Animated series, X-Men, Spider-Man... Even the adult shows like “Simpsons” and “King of the Hill.”

Disney had Recess, too. I remember really liking that cartoon.

I liked both but was more of a Nickelodeon kid. I don’t think Disney could have done shows like Rocko’s Modern Life or Hey Arnold! during that time. Even to this day I think the best Nicktoons trump the best animated Disney shows.

I gotta go with Disney. To this day, I can still rewatch my favorites: Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers, Tail Spin, Darkwing Duck, Gargoyles.
I'll occasionally rewatch an episode of the early Nick Toons, but not as much as the Disney ones.

These are are my faves from each:
Disney:
Goof Troop Chip n Dale DuckTales Darkwing Duck Timon and Pumbaa Aladdin The Little Mermaid Tailspin
Nickelodeon:
Rugrats Hey Arnold Rocko's Modern Life Ren and Stimpy Doug As Told By Ginger The Wild Thornberrys CatDog Angry Beavers Spongebob Rocket Power
Nickelodeon EASILY wins this, especially the storylines on Hey Arnold, Rugrats, and Doug. Doesn't even come close to how deep they were.
