So there are rumors that Christopher Nolan is at least on a shortlist of potential directors to make Bond 25. While I would very much like to see truly great and big time directors direct a Bond movie, I have to admit that I feel a little bit like Nolan would be wasted on a Bond movie. Even the best movies in the Bond franchise are formulaic.
Nolan breaks boundaries in his movies: Memento, The Prestige, Inception...
How would he "blossom" as an innovative director within a franchise that by its very nature needs to follow a formula?

I think Nolan is done with the mainstream projects being handed to him. After Dunkirk, though, I don't think there's a person on this planet who isn't counting down the days until he announces his next original idea.

Well Inception was a Bond film, I haven't noticed him breaking any boundaries for a while.

Some type of twist perhaps.

No thanks! I want a director who can return Bond back to his former glory and fun. Nolan will only drag it further into seriousness and darkness and realism.

After 20 "fun" Bond movies the series got out of steam, and became boring. Casino Royale gave it a punch that the series needed and transported it into greatness. They tried to go back to the old Bond with Spectre and look how that turned out to be.

There's no "greatness" in the Craig Bond movies. Not even remotely! Spectre was hardly anything close to the old Bond movies.

Charlie Hunnam wants to play James Bond apparently. Rather bold to petition for it after headlining the summer's first major box office flop, eh?

On the one hand I guess I would like to see what he of all directors would do with it, but on the other hand I would rather he do new original movies.
What Bond needs is a director who's just competent enough to work within the formula of the franchise, but modern enough to give it the few fresh ideas it needs to move it forward.
Nolan's just too good for Bond. If anything I think it would hold him back.

I would rather see them drop Daniel Craig and bring in Liam Neeson as James Bond. He would be a perfect fit for the role and a number of his recent Action movies have a very similar feel to them to the James Bond movies.

So IMDB boards are gone but the terrible ideas produced on it are still coming.
