Absolutely it is cultural appropriation, but it is the Christians' way of making everything about them. Missionaries have been going to faraway lands to bring salvation to the heathens, and in the process, destroying the indigenous culture. I wonder if humans will ever evolve beyond this. What is most disturbing is that, in a time when science is advancing every day with respect to how the world really works, that humans so stubbornly regress back into magical thinking. Are their comforting delusions that strong, the need for answers that may not be correct answers, so much better than furthering a true understanding of how the world really works? Oy vey! Edit - funny story - back when I was a teen, members of our church were invited to attend a bar mitzvah, in an attempt to promote religious tolerance. The ceremony was interesting, but the really cool part was all the food afterwards! They were far better at communal meals, and put our Wednesday night church dinners to shame. I asked my parents if we could convert to Judaism, just for the food! As you might imagine, that did not go over well!

I've never really understood "cultural appropriation" as a term. Culture doesn't just "pop" out of a vaccuum, it's essentially "appropriated" from other cultures. Japanese culture? Those people originally came from China and took much of the culture with them (rice, chopsticks, Buddhism). Mexican culture? That's just a rough algamation of Aztec and Catholic Spaniard culture. American cuisine? Burgers, hot dogs, pizza, and fried chicken are "appropriations" of a bunch of different cultures (German, Italian, Black Americans, etc)

Well Christianity is a spin-off of Judaism.

Even if it is, who cares about cultural appropriation anyway?

Personally, I always thought it would make more sense for Christian holidays to be based on Judaism rather than paganism. Whatever.

You know someone is ideologically possessed when they use the idiotic 'progressive' term 'cultural appropriation'.
If someone says something about 'cultural appropriation' to you, the proper response is 'Fuck off'.

If someone says something about 'cultural appropriation' to you, the proper response is 'Fuck off'. Nope. The words themselves don’t erase the legit complaint that these morons have no clue what they are doing and desecrating a Jewish religious ceremony by turning it into their own thing so they can get likes on their Facebook page from other Christian pretend to be Jews. However, I don’t expect you to understand since you think it is the Christian’s privilege to musk rub your smelly asses on anything you want to. Why do you guys just have to ruin everything for everybody? Fuck off.

Well Christianity is a spin-off of Judaism. It’s a spin-off that has over the centuries taken great pains to kill off the original version. What is lost on these Judaism hobbyists is Easter is the Christian Passover. In addition, as the article points out, Passover requires a long list of commandments that must be performed and foods prepared a certain way for the Passover to be right and proper in God’s eyes. Even Jews who ordinarily are not kosher, will during Passover clean their homes of traces of unleavened bread and use separate cookware and dishes for the meal itself. Superficial knowledge.

Isn’t Christianity an early form of cultural appropriation?
