Tony Danza was talked about for Jeff Spicoli in 'Fast Times At Ridgemont High' (1982) which was directed by Amy Heckerling who's a Danza fan. Heckerling and Danza later worked together on the television show 'Baby Talk' which was a spinoff from her big screen comedy 'Look Who's Talking' (1989).
Danza was considered too old to play Marty McFly in 'Back To The Future' (1985). The 'Taxi' star scored a smash hit in the mid-80s with the comedy show 'Who's The Boss?'. This show went up against ratings winner 'Family Ties' in one of the key battlegrounds of 1980s television (dramatic turf saw 'Dallas', 'Dynasty' and 'Falcon Crest' collide).

I think he should have played more tough guy roles. He was a boxer in real life. He was a legit tough guy and I think that would have translated well on-screen.

Would you have liked to see him in some crime movies from directors like Michael Cimino, Francis Coppola, Brian De Palma and Martin Scorsese? He could have played some made Italian-American gangsters and low-rent hoodlums on the make.
I heard he was considered for a part in 'Police Academy' (1984) but the producers couldn't afford his asking price at the time. He might have played Officer Carey Mahoney, a part that went to his old friend Steve Guttenberg.

I could have seen him in Goodfellas for sure. Maybe even Casino. I always liked him a lot in Taxi.

He's always hanging out with Marilu Henner. I've seen loads of pictures of them together from all different decades. They must get along really well.
