the plot of this movie makes no sense. People complain about how in Ghostbusters 2 the citizens completely forgot about the ghosts and the Ghostbusters saving the city? Well this movie looks to be doing that same idea and even worse. These kids haven't even heard of the Ghostbusters? No ghost sightings in 30 years? This is doing exactly what Force Awakens did. Absolutely no change to the status quo after a 30 year time gap and just do a rehash of the first films plot but with a younger cast. The fact that the terror dogs and the Stay Puft Marshmallow man look to be the antagonists says it all. Remember The Real Ghostbusters show? For at least the first few seasons they created many memorable monsters and episodes. These Hollywood writers just have no creativity.

Is Rick Moranis coming out of retirement for this? I might be vaguely interested in it just for that.

Why am I not surprised? I knew this would happen.

People complain about how in Ghostbusters 2 the citizens completely forgot about the ghosts and the Ghostbusters saving the city? What fucking people say that? I just rewatched the film, and no one in the movie had forgotten them... The people of the city didn't forget, they just didn't want to have anything more to do with them, and having them cause more destruction. If anything didn't make sense... It's why they were so easily welcomed back, after the Court Room battle with the (Scolari?) Brothers... Also, they were hired for the birthday party... before the Court Room battle... So at least a few people knew about them.

The title would have made more sense if the ghostbusters themselves were dead and fighting the bad ghosts for the sake of the living.

These internet message board complainers haven’t changed in 30 years. No creativity. How about you wait and see what happens. And PS, it’s like that in real life. Teenagers who weren’t alive on 9/11/2001 make jokes about 9/11 and don’t even know who Osama Bin Laden or Saddam were. And that was 20 years ago. There are people who claim the Holocaust wasn’t real.

The 2nd movie people didn't forget they just turned on the Ghostbusters after they were taken to court and slandered by the press. Kinda resonating the Jokers quote in TDK that people need heroes at times of crisis but when that passes theyll cast the heroes out.

The movie does sound like it’s going the TFA route, but that’s no surprise.

I agree, throughout the years every time my friends and I have talked about a new Ghostbusters movie there's always the guy pitching the idea "so, it's 40 years later and everyone has forgotten the Ghostbusters..." and I always say "Dude, they saved New York twice, they blew up a kaiju sized marshmallow man and brought to life the statue of liberty to break a slime encrusted museum all during the time of video cameras", I understand that to Gen-Zers 9/11 might as well have happened a hundred years ago, but still the vast majority of humans on this planet know exactly where they were and have an emotional reaction when that's mentioned, the same would happen with memories of a ghost invasion of a major city. Also it annoys me that they're taking Ghostbusters out of NYC.
