I'm American, not British, but there are some charming series from British TV. I'm sure that everyone has their favorites. I've watched a few episodes of The Clangers, the old series and a couple of the new one. The show that I'm most interested in at the moment though is Mr. Benn. It's minimally animated but it's got a charming picture book quality both in look and in the story. I'm only three episodes in out of around 12 or so but it's a fun show so far. What British shows, we'll see pre-2000 are you all interested in?

The Trap Door. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Trap_DoorThis was an awesome little show I grew up watching, with each episode only being a few minutes long, and yet they crammed a hell of a lot into those few minutes. Berk is easily one of the best animated characters ever IMO. All the episodes are on Youtube.

Noggin The Nog was a personal favourite. Although the animation was pretty basic it still possessed Nordic atmosphere and the stories held young Stammerhead’s attention throughout.

One where he's preparing the meal and the other with the octopus wreaking havoc while he's trying to build shelves. Both were pretty funny.
