I can honestly say that a mixing of the two formats for movie releases wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. Action, sci-fi/fantasy, superhero movies, and the like are made to be seen on the big screen and should always be released on them first. But do we really need Oscar-bait movies in that format, when they play just as well on streaming, what with today's 4K and larger screens? I'm not plunking down $15 plus concessions to see The Irishman on a huge screen, but I'll catch it at home gladly. Studios might be wise to take a more pragmatic, "pick and choose" approach as to where they release their titles in the future.
