Is it because AEW has been murdering them in the ratings on Wednesdays? i don’t think so. The numbers flip week to week and are somewhat similar and neither one really gains new viewers. There really is no ratings war between the two unless they were fighting over scraps

AEW has been consistently killing them in the key demo. NXT has come up some in the last couple of weeks due to the lead up to Wrestlemania but it is still behind AEW.

I think ratings are tricky to judge nowadays as there's so many media platforms and pay-per-view options. In many cases, it seems we're unlikely to see the kinds of tv ratings secured in the 1980s, back when most working class people still had a handful of channels to watch at best.

And so the Wednesday Night War is over. neither one is drawing even a million viewers. The Memphis territory’s local tv drew over 300,000 viewers in the 70’s and 80’s and that was just in the surrounding areas of one city not even counting the other markets. These 2 are national companies and they only draw a little over double that. That’s how sad things are in wrestling. Now one could argue there was less channels and less competition but I only buy that to a certain point. Nobody forced those people to keep tuning in and sit in front of a tv at 11am on a Saturday morning when people could be doing other things. And certainly nobody forced them to keep coming to the arenas every single week. Wrestling hooked them and they were fans.

These wrestling shows are some of the highest rated shows on cable. You are only looking at live ratings. Almost nobody watches live anymore. They record and watch later plus WWE puts all of it's stuff on streaming as well. The fact that between cable and broadcast there are at least 5 prime time wrestling shows prove that wrestling is still a very popular form of entertainment.
