It is a bit depressing that he started at a creative high and just became a director of movies that are more just pure entertainment that don't have much more too them besides surface level stuff. I still like some of his later movies though. Unfortunately he ended his Hollywood career with a lazy remake.

I'm not sure I've seen the first Neverending Story, and if I did I don't remember it. I definitely saw the third with Jack Black and Free Willy kid, though.

Replacing the badass drumming or whatever in that scene is almost singlehandedly what dropped it down a point. That and the generally inferior pacing. |

3. In the Line of Fire - 8/10 They sure knew how to make a movie like 30 years ago
4. Troy - 5/10 bad version of the book but I like the jumping stab Brad Pitt does at the beginning
5. Enemy Mine - 7/10 yeah I forgot he did that
6. Air Force One - 7.5/10 It was pretty damn good.
7. The Perfect Storm - haven't seen it but I remember it notable for Karen Allen being in it--she wasn't out of circulation that long before Crystal Skull
8. Outbreak - havent seen it
9. Shattered - nope
10. Poseidon - no way
He's a good director --it is a shame he seems to have disappeared.
Too damn white probably. Even worse-German.

I rate the extended cut of Troy 7/10, but the adding of the Planet of the Apes (2001) theme to the Hector/Achilles fight scene is confusing and ridiculous. That and the generally inferior pacing. It definitely annoys me.
