While I understand That PC is probably better at than consoles in every area I'm just a console guy and thats all I'll ever be for gaming.
Which is funny because I only like Desktops when it comes to the Internet, I don't like using Laptops or Tablets for it.

I prefer consoles. Microcomputers (like Commodore 64) are also fine with me. I don't like gaming on a PC, though I use my PC for playing emulator games.

1. One time fee and you're set for gaming for a few years, don't need to constantly upgrade 2. Don't have to waste time with patches, drivers, or compatibility issues Reassurance topic.

Depends on what you're playing. If you like sports games and platformers then yeah, you need a console but if you like FPS games and strategy games you should only play those on a PC. Now, in regards to #1 and #2. Patches?? you're kidding right? Patches are now on console too. Besides that, patches are now auto-upgrades on PC. Constant upgrade is not true either. If you have a decent PC you won't have to upgrade anytime soon. The problem is, most people buy these fake desktop computers now days and then realize later on that they need to upgrade. A lot of PC manufactures are now designing laptops to look like desktops. What they're doing is taking laptop components and putting them into a desktop tower/case. You want to avoid these machines at all costs. If the specs for the processor doesn't say something like i-5 or i-7 or AMD FX or something like this then it is NOT a desktop PC that can used for gaming. You want to pay close attention to the graphics card too. Do not buy integrated graphics for a PC. A lot of fake desktops are out there that have integrated graphics. You don't want this if you intend to play games on your PC. Here's a picture of what integrated chips look like - Notice how the the sound and video plug in are all in one spot... this is integrated graphics. In other words, the graphics chip is integrated on the mother board. You want stand alone PCI graphics for playing game! This allows greater functionality for the processor and will prevent slow gameplay. Now, here's a picture of PCI slot graphics card, this is the ONLY kind of PC you want to buy if you want to play games on it - Notice how the slot at the bottom has the video plug in. That's a PCI video card in this machine. Anyhow, that is your lesson for the day.

Yeah, consoles are more user friendly but it's not difficult though. People have been playing PC games for decades. So, what I posted is common knowledge among PC gamers. Basically, all you gotta do is make sure you aren't buying a fake desktop.

It's not even a contest.

Since i tend to play mostly shooters... a PC is a MUST for me as aiming quickly with a analog stick is a chore (basically sucks the fun out of games) as it's just not fun for be playing shooters on consoles because of that as i am handicapped and cannot aim fast enough for the games to be enjoyable for me where as a mouse it's just much more natural/easier to aim/track stuff on screen and is enjoyable.
p.s. i have not really played any new games since about 2012 but i plan on upgrading my video card here soon so i can play some modern games. (mainly... Mafia III/GTA 5 and maybe Hitman) as currently i simply cannot play modern games as my video card (Radeon 5670 512MB) is simply too old even though my CPU (i.e. i3-2120) can still play modern games fairly well. i plan on getting a 'Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB' which looks like a great bang-for-the-buck card right now (basically the best card you can get for $150 or less. currently $150 but i seen it for 135-140 not long ago and ill just wait til the price drops before getting it UPDATE: ill have the Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB card on Thursday July 6th as i got it for $134.99 on a weekend sale very recently) and it's powered from the PCI-E slot and does not need an additional power connection which in that regard it's similar to my current card except my current card is a single slot where as that is a dual slot. basically once i get that video card upgrade my CPU will pretty much be my bottleneck where as right now my video card is clearly the weak link of my system for gaming. plus even outside of current games games i was playing around 2010 or so will get a solid boost in frame rate with that card as it appears it can easily handle slightly older games at 1080p with a solid frame rate and even modern games i am sure it will play well enough especially with the 4GB of RAM as i figure if someone is going to buy a video card it's wise to get one with at least 4GB of RAM otherwise that will likely be a issue since i suspect more and more games will start to really need 4GB etc.
but i will say that for years now... you don't have to upgrade hardware in your PC nearly as much as we used to back in the day but i suspect that will probably change a bit once the next gen consoles arrive as those seem to dictate how the computer tech evolves. but it seems if you got any decent quad core CPU with a fairly modern GPU your likely good for a while. hell, i got a i3-2120 (which is only dual core but with it's hyper-threading Windows sees it as a quad core CPU) which i had since May 2012 and once i upgrade my video card it will still offer decent gaming performance considering it's age.
UPDATE #2: after getting the 'Geforce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB' in the mail today i briefly tested it on Max Payne 3 and it made a HUGE difference as i can basically run graphics on MAX (i just lowered the MSAA (which is basically a non-issue) a bit which is the only setting i don't have completely maxed) and frame rate is pretty much liquid smooth and i know this because i was using the MSI Afterburner program which shows your frame rate to but even without that to show actual factual data it was obvious it made a big difference as things ran much more smoothly vs my old Radeon 5670 512MB and both running @ 1080p resolution. with the higher frame rates it makes it easier to aim at things faster on screen as it's not as sluggish to respond etc like before. so if anyone is looking for a solid graphics card for 1080p gaming right now it's going to be hard to top that especially in terms of bang-for-the-buck and does not require any fancy power connections either as it's powered from the motherboards PCI-E slot. now i just got to try out Mafia III/GTA V etc which i never played at all yet but i am sure Mafia III won't run as well as Max Payne 3 as it's not all that optimized from what i heard and GTA V should run solid enough even though the frame rate will dip here and there but what ill probably do is find that sweet spot between graphics/frame rate etc. even on the small area i tested it on with Max Payne 3 the GPU and CPU where not even maxed when i was getting 60fps(i.e. liquid smooth experience) but with that said ill have to play through quite a few levels to see how that stuff goes throughout the game.
I 100% agree here. Desktops are easily the best way to experience the internet as everything else, especially outside Laptops since those are still full functioning computers, are watered down.
even Desktop vs Laptop it boils down to this... while both are fully functioning computers your getting less power for more $$$ on a Laptop vs a Desktop and with a Desktop you get a bigger screen to. only benefit with a Laptop is portability as outside of that a Desktop is just superior. i don't really see the point of Tablets as they are just very basic internet machines and that's about it.
