Do we believe in demons and/or possessions? I believe in both. My ex-wife took all my possessions.

Demons? Sure. Posessions? Maybe.

Without daemons, computers would be but a pipe dream. As for Possession, at present it remains just vaporware.

Demons yes. Possessions takes a lot of understanding, because we're all in possessed bodies and minds, so exorcists are quite obviously not legitimate. Some may think they are, but if you believe in demons and possessions, you can't possibly believe in exorcists, because by definition, they are control freaks, whether they want to be or not, and thus are possessed, and thus cannot be exorcists of demonic forces.
Sad state of affairs. You're on your own, buddy. But then, all of us are on our own.

I'm personally not a fan of dualism. I actually think dualistic thinking is causing a lot of problems in society today, because it's just too easy to hate whatever it is you brand as "evil", rather than seeing us all as a work in progress. I think it's better to try to see things more on a spectrum. Instead of good versus evil, I tend to see them as wise versus less wise, or egotism versus egolessness, etc. All human flaws come from weakness of character, a lack of something.
One concrete example of this is shadows. Shadows are nothing but an absence of light. You can't fight or defeat shadows, except by adding light. It seems to me that the same applies to so many human flaws. You can't defeat hatred with hatred, or intolerance with intolerance, or racism with racism--- not only because it's ineffective, but also because it's far too easy to become the very thing we hate. The only thing that can defeat those human flaws is growth, experience, and maturity. Hatred serves no purpose, and all it does is poison our own souls.
As far as the OP, I believe that we all have our own metaphorical "demons" to fight, the weaknesses within ourselves. Are there malevolent spirits out there trying to cause us harm? I don't know. If there are, then they hardly need to bother, because people do a good enough job making their own mistakes in life. I think most possessions are probably due to psychiatric or medical conditions, although I've never seen anything like that firsthand, so I can't say for certain. I tend to view any challenges in life not as the work of demons or evil spirits, but as lessons put in our paths to help us learn something from it. I see no reason to live in fear.

Can't say as I believe in them.
Great subjects for horror films and books though.

No but talking through these issues might help someone during therapy sessions.

Just for fun. This is a thing I’m doing in conjunction with this thread: IMDB2.freeforums.net/thread/268625/started-write-parody-politics-board?page=1&scrollTo=4774554Scene: a group of professionals who are friends meet for drinks as they always do on Thursday nights. The conversation turns to demonic possession. Setting: a trendy bar in Soho Cast: Phisto Gauntlet: youngest of the group, rather full of himself as a successful Wall Street investment phenom Isapop: a bored, middle-aged lawyer, done with handling divorce cases, wants to take up sailing Rodney Farber: a jaundiced copywriter on Madison Ave still writing that first novel Fatman: owns a pet shop in the East Village; wants to have kids someday with his long time mistress Catman: teaches computer science and wants to make a documentary about Central Park wildlife DrPaulsLaugh: a handsome but failed actor, now running an antiques store on the upper West Side Drystyx: an associate professor of history at NYU considering leaving the professional to take up mountain climbing Mystery: a building manger for a new high rise residential skinny tower, studied anthropology but never pursued a career Father Jack: former priest, now runs a community outreach center in Harlem, is married to former nun Winter King: drunk guy at the next table listening in Stammerhead: the waiter FridayonElmStreet: the bartender Now read the above posts with these characters in mind. Late casting: Maya, runs a yoga studio, who arrives late This sounds like the setup for Billy Joel's 'Piano Man'.

I definitely believe in demons and fully support them making a comeback. For far too long the filthy terrans of the world have deemed them “evil”. Demon lives matter too and they existed before us.
As for possessions, I suppose they’re possible but haven’t seen one myself as far as I know.

Maybe Sun Wukong (aka Monkey King) is due for a comeback? Quite possibly, as long as it’s the wise and noble version. Five hundred years of imprisonment does tend to mellow one a tad bit. Of course, the magic circlet he was tricked into wearing by Bodhisattva Guanyin also made a difference.
