I had an idea, but it was in reverse, since its usually decent sitcom actors who attempt to act in a movie (usually after a hit TV show) and bomb.

I think Kelsey Grammer had it both ways where he was on TV then did some movies and went back to TV with a lousy sitcom named HANK.

Never watched the show, but the premise for "Bosom Buddies" sounds really lame and would probably get old quick. I think it's safe to say Tom Hanks went on to better things.

I remember thinking, "Peter Scolari has a bright future, but not that Tom Hanks guy."

I think Andy Griffith played better in series (not just sitcoms) than in movies.
I really liked Jenna Fischer in The Office, but was less impressed with her in the few movies I saw her in.
I wouldn't go so far as saying they were lousy...just that in the series...they seemed to have found the perfect part but that part didn't translate to the role they played in a movie.

I don't know, A Face In The Crowd was his very first acting credit and it was a freaking tour de force. Maybe a comfortable career in TV roles meant he never really gave his movie career a decent shot.
