Her voice in this song relaxes me. Exactly. I listed eight. This was going to be my ninth symphony.

Her voice in this song relaxes me. No offence, but I think sheβs probably my least favourite singer of all time. Her voice is like nails on a blackboard to me!

The Blue Nile - From A Late Night Train The Blue Nile and their lovely A Walk Across The Rooftops (1984), turned out to be among some of the best "impulse" purchases, I have ever done. Right up there with XTC - Skylarking (1986), Prefab Sprout - Steve McQueen (1985), Talk Talk - Spirit of Eden (1988) and Rush - Signals (1982), as one of those rare albums/artists, who somehow, in a weird yet comforting way, kind of felt like an old friend. I love the tender or fragile sounds and atmosphere of those 80s The Blue Nile albums and songs, or at least (Across the Rooftops and Hats) of which I own. But also because they come with a certain "romantic" sadness to them. And I do not mean something which puts me down, but more of the complete opposite. Not many are able of doing that to me, but I am also glad, they included not only "downbeat" songs, but a few more upbeat ones as well. Nice with a bit of variety, but would not mind an entire album filled with moody atmospheric ballads. I feel exactly the same way. I bought Across the Rooftops when it first came out, it was all vinyl for me at that time and it was an impulse buy also. Believe it or not I got it cause I had to hear what the music sounded like from a band that would come up with the name The Blue Nile. It was one of the few impulse buys that worked out for me. Hats is also a fantastic album. Went to see them perform at the Santa Monica Civic auditorium when they came to Los Angeles in 1990. Great show.

In addition to A Place in the Sun, Ribbon in the Sky also very relaxing for me. Others include My Cherie Amour, I just Called to Say I Love You. Send One Your Love

This entire set fits the bill. Takes about a minute to start.

Despite the bleak lyrics, the music is very relaxing

John Hopkins Psychedelic Research Playlist
"I think of it as a nonverbal support system, sort of like the net for a trapeze artist. If all is going well, youβre not even aware that the net is there β you donβt even hear the music β but if you start getting anxious, or if you need it, itβs immediately there to provide a structure.ββ Bill Richards, psychologist and researcher at John Hopkins
