An actor who was one of only 13 athletes in the history of American professional sports to have played both Major League Baseball (Brooklyn Dodgers 1949, Chicago Cubs, 1951) and in the National Basketball Association (Boston Celtics 1947–48). Being good at sports didn't pay bills, but playing baseball when MGM talent scouts was around could. Chuck Connors (1921–1992)
This Year we Celebrate 100 Years of Chuck Early role, standing while the Duke speaks in Trouble Along the Way 1953 Few has squeezed Gregory Pecks nose, but Chuck did in Designing Woman 1957 Was he the owner of Old Yeller? those who have seen it knows, 1957 168 episodes that even reached behind the Iron Curtain The desert island hunk Doris left behind in Move Over Darling, James Garner one that round. Chuck in Flipper 1963 Short lived Cowboy in Africa TV-Series So after 1970's he seems like one of many actors who when't down the pipes until he passed away in 1992 Thanks for Watching Oppinions of all kinds are welcome

Best role -- as the son who disappoints pa Burl Ives in THE BIG COUNTRY And like Paul Newman in HOMBRE, he was blue-eyed in GERONIMO.

THE BIG COUNTRY comes to mind first. SYNANON was an odd one - sort of GRAND HOTEL in a drug rehab centre. Connors got top billing but effectively had the "other man" role -glowering jealously whilst junkie on the mend Stella Stevens helps newbie Alex Cord off the smack. The joint is run by lush Edmond O'Brien, almost as sweaty as he was in BAREFOOT CONTESSA or SEVEN DAYS IN MAY, Richard Conte pops up and the cherry on top is Eartha Kitt as a reformed hooker 3 years clean now on the roster. That staffing compliment would have anyone grasping for the class As. RIDE BEYOND VENGEANCE is a well regarded and fairly violent oater in which he has the lead and the large veteran cast includes Michael Rennie, Gloria Grahame, Joan Blondell, Bill Bixby, Gary Merrill, Claude Akins, Arthur O'Connell and Frank Gorshin. for appreciating him

He played the heavy battling Chuck Heston in SOYLENT GREEN. When the movie premiered I thought it was a chilling prediction of things to come. I haven’t seen the film since then so when I just found this image I almost collapsed in laughter. By the way, the film is set in 2022. I mean, things are bad but at least we’re not eating each other. Or are we?

I liked the Rifleman.
How about DEATH IN SMALL DOSES where Peter Graves is an FBI agent who is investigating the deaths of truck drivers and Chuck Connors is one of the drivers taking "Bennies" as they call them.
THE POLICE CONNECTION aka THE MAD BOMBER where sex pervert Neville Brand has to identify him. "That's the guy!"
Also TOURIST TRAP-he had a very interesting role in that horror film.
But I love this trailer. The movie is very amusing but this shows the highlights--especially when he gets his hands stuck in the vice.

Yeah, but Paul was playing a white man.

Such a great actor. I wanted to cast him as dad to brothers Bo Hopkins and Big Bo Svenson (who were born in February of 1942 and 1941 respectively) in a north Minnesota raid type of strange-terrain western.
I love the 'Tourist Trap', one of David Schmoeller's finest horror pictures.

THE POLICE CONNECTION aka THE MAD BOMBER where sex pervert Neville Brand has to identify him. "That's the guy!" Brand played a SEX PERVERT? You know I hovered over that title on Chuck's Wiki entry thinking "Christ Never even heard of that one", never knowing such riches could be found therein. Plus Vince Edwards as "Lieutenant Geronimo Minnelli". What next? Michael Callan as Sergeant Iron Eyes Fosse? Just bumped it up my MOST WANTED list behind THE NAKED BRIGADE

My first memorable exposure to Chuck Conners was as Janos Skorzeny in Werewolf (1987-1988), which is famous for being one of the first TV series from the then brand new FOX Network. It was basically The Fugitive with a werewolf instead of a one-armed man, but it was pretty cool. Then later, once I started my obsession with all movies, I found him in several classic roles. He made a lot of TV appearances that I remember him from too. These are the Chuck Connors movies I've seen so far: Old Yeller Flipper (1963) Support Your Local Gunfighter Soylent Green Tourist Trap Airplane II: The Sequel Summer Camp NightmareYears later I discovered The Rifleman playing in reruns on AMC. He had that striking chiseled face, perfect for tough guy roles.

Neville Brand's performance in THE POLICE CONNECTION is a brave one, that is what I will say about it.
I knew Chuck Connors before WEREWOLF--I was so annoyed that show was cancelled while things like Married With Children endured.
Connors left the show after some episodes--they used a stand-in.

Seen THE MAD BOMBER - a nifty, grungy and, to its credit, tasteless, seventies exploitationer, TOURIST TRAP - a so so low budget horror flick, but a big, big hit in the very early days of Video Stores, and KILL THEM ALL AND COME BACK ALONE - a marginally above average Spaghetti western that is often unintentionally funny. But I haven't seen DEATH IN SMALL DOSES yet. I do, however, have a really good quality print of it on DVD. Do you recommend I spend part of my Sunday watching it - accompanied by some stiff gin and tonics and a spiff, Prime? Sell me on it. PS. If anybody else here has seen DEATH IN SMALL DOSES please offer your opinions of it.
