"Hi. I'm Cindy. I'm the perfect female type: 18-25. I'm here to sell for you."In a constant battle to reach perfection, the famous surgeon Dr. Larry Roberts (Albert Finney) and his clinic has become a highly popular place to come visit, for many young and ambitious women, who seek to find that little extra something in order to help them increase their chances of a big breakthrough within the world of TV and movies, where a beautiful appearance means everything. But even a pretty face is not enough, as several of the patients seem to die under very suspicious circumstances, and knowing well that the police would point their attention towards his business, Dr. Larry Roberts decides that it is time to do a little investigation on his own, which ends up leading him onto the trail of one of the biggest research firms in the country, The Digital Matrix.Fake lips, fake teeth, fake nose, fake hair, fake tits, fake ass, fake tan, fake this and f**k that, Trevor Horn and The Buggles 1979 hit Living in the Plastic Age does not sound all that bad, consider how far more and more people will go in their search for "perfection", and where not even the most beautiful looking women on the planet is seen fit to front the cover of a magzine, without going through tons of editing jobs and all you end up with is a photo of completely different looking person. While it might not be among Michael Crichton's best movies, I have always enjoyed Looker as a nice little crime/thriller and found it to be interesting, where we get to see how this new and "fantastic" tool that is computer generated animation, end up manipulating the TV audience into no longer be able to seperate what is real and what is not. A remake has been planned/talked about several times and I think that Looker might fit right in with how things have turned since 1981, of course it would be nice if the right people gets involved.

Recently rewatched it and I like it a lot. It feels underdeveloped though. Maybe a tauter script/bigger budget might have resulted in a better film, but this is a cult-worthy as it stands.

That is hilarious, great find. Tim Rossovich looked like one smooth motherf.... in Looker, and I sure loved those shades he sported, also that cool fight sequence later on with Albert Finney was something else.
