Not sure. It didn't seem to get a lot of buzz, at least from what I could tell. I watched it because I liked the director's first movie (Thoroughbreds) a lot.

I feel like Jackman has enough prestige to where it could've made a run( well respected actor subverting expectations, release date, and a decent studio)

I have a load still to see so this is likely to change. I did manage to catch all of the Oscar nominees early, for once.
1. Anthony Hopkins, The Father 2. Maciej Musiałowski, The Hater 3. Kingsley Ben-Adir, One Night in Miami 4. Hugh Jackman, Bad Education 5. Chadwick Boseman, Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom
Oldman was good - his best work in years, in fact - but loses a few points for his lengthy drunken rant, which showcased some of his worst tendencies as an actor. He’s currently my no. 6, though. I liked Yeun and Ahmed but don’t think their films have them enough of a showcase to be truly award-worthy, and imo both were outclassed by co-stars (Han and Youn/Raci). A solid slate this year, though.

1. Daniel Kaluyaa, Judas and the Black Messiah (Just my opinion. It felt like a lead role to me, not supporting). 2. Gary Oldman, Mank 3. Tom Hanks, News of the World 4. Steven Yuen, Minari 5. Jim Caviezel, Infidel

Jim Caviezel, Infidel Kaluuya was definitely a lead - as was Steinfeld, whom I slightly preferred. Both were excellent, but they’ll be 2021 for me.
