Jordan Peele? I don't think being black was ever really central to Blade's character like other black super heroes anyways (Black Panther, Luke Cage, steel) so I dunno if the director being black would even be provide much utility in this case.

Disney is just doing this so they can say “ look it’s made by a black director. Blade does not need a black director for it to work. This is actually showing that Disney is actually MORE racist because they didn’t think to look at any other directors of race. |

This is actually showing that Disney is actually MORE racist because they didn’t think to look at any other directors of race. On the inverse, Blade doesn't need a white direct to work either. Black directors are just as capable at handling a superhero franchise. It's ok if they direct something other than Black Panther.

Get one that knows how to shoot action scenes.
One of the guys that directed John Wick wanted to direct Blade and I think that would be an excellent choice.
But then again, the new Blade is going to be PG13...

But then again, the new Blade is going to be PG13... The Pg13 rating has me the most worried. I keep hearing “well the comics weren’t really all that graphic so it doesn’t need to be R rated”. I just feel like it’s gonna feel very much like an MCU movie. I’d like to be wrong, but I have a feeling I’m gonna be very spot on. |

But there's nothing wrong with giving more opportunities to minority directors. I just think this latest Hollywood trend is misguided for a different reason. The scope is too narrow. How about insisting on a black director for the next Thor movie? Or a woman for the next Cap movie? Why do they only insist on minority directors of the same ethnicity or gender as the title character?
