Not bad, but definitely not one of my favorite MCU flicks. Always forget this is also Jeremy Renner’s first appearance as Hawkeye. Better than its successor, but neither are as good as Ragnarok.

As much as I like the MCU, this is one of the least memorable (right down there with Incredible Hulk and Thor II).

Just from the trailers, I thought it was gonna suck. But I enjoyed it far better than expected. It's a middle-tier MCU movie for me.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this when I originally saw it. This was the one that told me Marvel might be onto something with their shared universe.

The strong performances from Hemsworth, Hiddleston, and Hopkins elevate the movie as well as a strong score. Other than that the movie is average. Very visually unappealing as well with a cheap aesthetic

Oh, might as well:
Leonard Maltin Movie Guide Review:
Thor (2011) - 2.5 out of 4 stars
"Norse mythology by way of Marvel Comics' Stan Lee and Jack Kirby: mighty hammer-wielding Thor (Hemsworth) is banished from the kingdom of Asgard by his ailing father (Hopkins)--with a little help from a jealous brother (HHiddleston)--and sent to earth. There he's discovered by scientist Portman, who's been investigating strange phenomena in the New Mexico night sky--and finds herself attracted to the otherworldly hunk. Heavy going in the artificial-looking Norse world, while the tone on Earth is one of cheeky comedy. This lighthearted material is novel and fun, but it undercuts the story's deadly serious intentions. In short, a mixed bag. Followed by THE DARK WORLD. 3-D Panavision."

Still really like it. One of the more underappreciated Marvel films.

I feel so old!
It was definitely better than I thought it would be. The performances were great and Loki ended up being a memorable villain.

It's okay. I doubt I'll ever watch it again. I don't know why I would.

I re-watched it this week because of the tenth anniversary, and overall, it still holds up but it could have been better. The flaws are still there with the overuse of Dutch angles, some of the comedy being weak, and Chris Hemsworth's bleached eyebrows were distracting. Definitely, the strongest points are the Asgard sequences, the performances from the cast, and Patrick Doyle's musical score.

Rewatched it last night for the first time in...9 years, I think? Right before the first Avengers movie came out (!)
Much better than I remember it being. I remember not liking how he doesn't have his powers for a good chunk of the movie, but I didn't mind it this time around.

Natalie Portman doubled my rating. Then just when she thought she was out, they pulled her back in (with a nice pay cheque) ... don't think I'll ever choose to watch it again.

I think it is on par with most other superhero genre movies, but there is no pleasing everybody.
Still, it's pretty good for a studio if they're making gazillions of dollars while selling tons of merchandise to loyal followers.
On a more serious note, outside of serious competition which nowadays seems to somehow drive consumer prices up anyway, why not turn out substandard offerings (I say this as a fan of 'Friday The Thirteenth')?

Anyone whose ratings for any movie is automatically doubled by the presence of that vacant waste of oxygen Natalie Portman is the saddest excuse for a human being that has ever lived.

I've never understood celebrity hatred. What does it do for you? Probably the same thing that your hatred for white people on the politics forum does for you. Natalie Portman chose to be a moron no one ever chooses their skin colour or the privilege that comes with it or not.

Natalie Portman chose to be a moron no one ever chooses their skin colour or the privilege that comes with it or not. If you hate Portmann because she chooses to "a moron," then you can see why I hate it that so many white people are too immature and self-centered to accept the simple evidence of history. Even so I don't hate white people. I hate the hatred that seems to define your lives. I hate that you chose to live a lie. Shut up, Paul. This is a discussion forum and Natalie Portman is a public figure who chose to be famous thus having her work commented on, if you don't like that then you know what to do about it.

Do you need a safe space to cry about the evil Natalie Portman haters? No, I just asked question because I'm something you are not: curious. So, why do you think people hate on people they don't even know? As for hating Portman, I don't know her. She's never done anything to me other than appear in a movie about the ballet that sucked. Otherwise, I don't hate her. It is possible to not like someone without hating them. Have you heard about concept this before? Like, I really dislike James Franco. There is just something about him that turns me off, however I'm not fill revulsion for the man. My BP does not go up when I see him on TV, nor do I want to throw things at it. Does that happen to you when see Portmann? I think she's a shit actress Paul I'm not planning on killing her or sending her death threats. Why are you so simple? "This guy dislikes an actress so he must immediately be hiring a hitman to knock her off" 😂 As for your Franco hate at least he plays stupid for the money, what's your excuse?
